WCSF: Vegas Golden Knights (P1) vs. Edmonton Oilers (P2) (VGK Lead 3-2)

Should be a heck of a series. I feel like Vegas is much more dangerous offensively but even though their defensive personnel is better I don't feel like they're quite as imposing as the Kings.

This series will come down to special teams and Skinner vs LB.

Oilers in six, IMO.

Edmonton got 7 goals from it's bottom six/bottom D pairing. The only Oiler that didn't record a point was Broberg.

Nobody has learned anything from the first round. Edmonton's depth is really good. It's a big reason we beat LA, honestly. RNH, Hyman, and Kane were pretty quiet and McDavid was human.

For some reason I was under the impression that teams would get re-seeded for the 2nd round. But clearly thats not the case.

Why is Dallas getting rewarded with the lowest seed in the West when both VGK and EDM finished ahead in the season.

I didnt understand all the flack about the playoff format until now. Regular season is absolutely useless outside round 1.

I don't think it really makes a big difference. There's 11 points separating Vegas from Seattle. Outside of Winnipeg, there was a ton of parity in the West playoff teams this year.

I think EDM keeps on rolling here. They've been a juggernaut at 5v5 since about the halfway mark of the regular season, kept it going against LA, and coupled with their lethal PP...

I think Vegas will struggle to hold back the waves of EDM attack.

Next to nothing? How about 10+ ultra softies over a 7 game series, a SV% of .890 and GAA 3.43? Don't ask me to check his advanced stats. He belongs in the AHL.

Jack Campbell in relief SV% .964 and GAA 1.18. But for some reason the bum who can't even skate keeps getting starts. It's embarassing. I'm complaining because he could still be benched. Do it before the season is over.

Hop on to the McDavid and the Oilers are winning the Cup bandwagon. There’s been tons of room all season long, but I’m starting to see some new faces. The detractors have all but evaporated.

Nathaniel, you doing okay?

Vegas in 6 if their goaltending holds up.

Hoping for this too. Vegas D do make their goalies look better than they really are though. Brossait was basically on call in net the entire series vs Winnipeg. Was barely even tested. He could have put up a lawn chair and put his feet up in-between saves. And Vegas made a top 5 goalie in Hellybuck look like a career backup.

Vegas is really good but I voted Edmonton again. It's hard enough to contain McDavid, but Drai looks unstoppable.

I have to laugh at TSN having an article up asking if McDavid's struggles against Vegas this season are a cause for conern. The man had 7 points in 4 games against Vegas. We could all be so lucky as to "struggle" like that.
Scrub numbers tbh. LeBron is averaging 22.2 a night this postseason. Obvious sarcasm should not need to be pointed out.

Containing a crippled Jets team is a whole different animal than taking down the highest scoring team in hockey. If Vegas' PK is as porous as it was against the Jets, this series could be over quickly. Edmonton's not a two man team anymore, we got contributions from all over the lineup.

I do think it goes at least six, though. I just think the Oilers take it.

You can add mcdavid to the quiet list. Hopefully they put it together this series.

There's a difference between underestimating the Knights and thinking the Oilers are a better team.
Same thing happened with Colorado two years ago. Knights have less flash but still finished above both Edmonton and LA. In this thread, many believe LA is better than Vegas. Not saying Vegas is better, just saying "Edmonton in 3" chatter is laughable and the Knights perform better when they are the heavy underdog.

Funny enough most of the series losses Knights have been the favorite in (Montreal, Dallas, and if I remember correctly San Jose).

I don't think any serious fan would predict a sweep. I see only 12 votes for a sweep and I'm going to guess that 11 of those people aren't Oiler fans and are just having a good laugh.

I was told that Vegas was also the least penalized team this year in the regular season. If true, don’t expect a lot of PP time. 5 on 5 Vegas can contain anybody. They play a very structural defense.

Gonna be a good one. I don't understand anyone looking past the Knights, these guys are playing to win whereas the Kings were playing to not lose if that makes sense. Felt like LA was so focused on stopping McDavid and not focused on their own game. I don't see that with the Knights.

Regular season is absolutely useless outside round 1.
And after the Bruins collapse, it matters even less. They should just shorten the regular season by 20 games down to 62 games, and play only within your conference. I'm on the east coast, don't GAF about watching the Ducks or Kraken. I'd rather play division rivals more...less is sometimes more, it would get a lot more passion into the fanbases...but it'll never happen for $ome $trange rea$on

No one is looking past the Knights. Teams like LA playing not to lose has been the Oilers kryptonite. I expect a little more space out there and McD to feast. Also the Oilers will get scored on more. So it's gonna be fun.
