Oilers didn't play that well. They gave things away too easily. That Desharnais mistake was pathetic and should never happen, that was AHL all the way. With things being so close you can't afford to give up goals like that, it was the difference in the game. Las Vegas deserved the win but even if you play well, you are likely going to lose games making mistakes like that. That is about the 4 time in these playoffs Desharnais just gave away a goal for free in these playoffs. Mistakes happen but you can't afford those types of mistakes and expect to win.

Ugly game. The Oilers are just so inept defensively and that is going to ultimately decide the series in Vegas' favor. Not even Calder finalist Stuart Skinner can save the day.

It is a physical sport. A demanding sport. Nobody is gonna prance around you cause you had surgery and nor should they.

If it is an issue.... Gtfo the ice.
There is prancing around you, then there is an illegal check with intent to injure while the refs look the other way every single time. And many of these illegal xchecks last night happened nowhere near the crease.

Their defensive coverage was horrid last night. Skinner can only do so much.

The Knights didn't even look that invested in the game and they were scoring at will 5v5.

Skinner saved it from being a blowout, he saved some serious high danger chances. Vegas could have easily had 8-10 goals.

Play Ekholm more, decrease Nurse to minutes more suitable to his talent level, jettison Desharnais to the AHL. Get your forwards to buy into a more defensive system

Do they give out a Stanley Cup for that?

The formula to beat the Oilers is pretty clear.

1. Stay out the box.
2. Focus all attention on Drai+McDavid.
3. Force the rest of the roster to beat you.

If you master #1, 2 and 3 become less important.

Good team, don't get me wrong, but they are a two-man team that relies on the PP. Not taking the penalty is easier said than done but I'd be telling guys, hey right when you're about to make the move or overcompensate because you don't want someone who isn't Drai or McDavid by, don't. Let them get the step or the move or the shot. If it's Drai or McDavid, don't. Let them get the extra shot. Don't put them on the PP.

Nurse makes 9 million per year, doesn’t he? Defenders who make that much are supposed to eat minutes.

Neither team looked particularly sharp but it was a pretty fun game to watch overall.

Oilers are going to have to adjust, they were overly aggressive on the forecheck and we’re getting caught on the wrong side of the puck. Likewise they’re going to have to adjust to the difference in forecheck between Kings and Vegas. Forwards will need to better support the breakout and also do their best to slow down the Vegas forecheck.

Oh yeah, I agree. He was an NHL player...doesn't get there by not knowing the game.

And I agree with the bottom, that was quite interesting. But the thing is he never seems confident really in what he is saying. I remember watching his post games and I was just like "uh huh..."

Maybe he just isn't a made for TV personality? I dunno. But his coaching record also doesn't do him any favours either lol
That could be his problem. How do you get players to buy into something when it doesn't sound like the coach has bought into it himself.

This is an interesting series to me because I, perhaps like many east coasters, do not follow VGK very closely. I had no idea Michael Amadio was an active part of an NHL roster, and he has what, five points through six games?
I think his name was one of the most said names on the broadcast last night from Vegas.

Good waiver pickup that's for sure

I don't know how we can do that to be honest.
