Gold.

Apparently Dean Lombardi was supposed to joint the TSN broadcast at some point during tonight's game. Am I the only one that missed it or did it just never happen?

He came on pre-game. Didn't really get asked anything of significance and his answers were political.

OK, so who's our #6 D man for game 2? Schultz? Campbell? McNabb? Bodnarchuk?

The only player who at least some NHL experience playing with the Kings in a regular season game this year is Campbell. Campbell and McNabb might have the advantage because they are both left hand shots. Going to be a tough call and situation for whoever gets into the line-up. A short leash for sure, especially with Sutter.

Seeing a lot of "not worried, if we play like this the rest of the series we got this in 5" type posts coming from the other side. It's like they've never heard of adjustments. Maybe they only watched their own team in round 1. Probably, huh?

Not only were we down to 5 defensemen last night, but Doughty also played one of the worst games I've seen him play in a long time. We were very fortunate to get the win last night.

As for Anaheim, they failed to beat LA in what is probably going to be LA's worst game of the series. Opportunity missed for them.

I think LA earned their fortune last night and I don't think Anaheim played that much better than them. Ducks even caught some breaks on both their goals thanks to Quickie. The biggest hurdle was the loss of RR tho.

The Ducks seem to snuff out most of LA's prime scoring opportunities, but all year long they have scored some pretty crappy/scrappy goals against LA themselves.

I'm actually gald they don't have Penner anymore. He seemed to step up against his old mates.

Still that being said, it is going to be a tough series. I have no gut feeling about it one way or another.

Some players were sometimes for no reason extremely sloppy last night. I recall that one pass from Doughty to Muzzin, who gave it to Getzlaf was who was standing right in front of him. No idea why he didnt move it to the boards. That's just no hockey sense. That particular play was when Getzlaf hit the post.

Doughty was good but also made a couple of bonehead plays. Muzzin was back to his usual self last night IMO. Ducks played a bit like the Blues in the 1st round last year. Just put the puck in the Kings zone and go after it. Greene, Voynov and Muzzin couldnt get rid of the puck.

I still remember that great playoffs in 2012 when the Kings moved the puck tic tac toe out of the zone.

The View From Section 301

I agree wholeheartedly with the bolded (with my own emphasis added); we were in Section 301, with a great view of everything, and overall, this was a game of stretches...for instance, the first 5 minutes or so, heavily favored the Kings (the shot count was 5-1 at one point, IIRC). On balance, the play probably favored the Ducks a bit more, but it definitely wasn't a territorial slaughter like some are saying (although admittedly Quick did have to make a few tougher saves than anything Hiller saw).

I also agree 100% about Penner; I suspect the outcome would've been different last night if he was still on the Ducks (especially in a tight game like that). Thank God for shortsighted trades, hmm?

Lastly, I will say this: while the game was "close," it quickly became apparent that the Ducks as a team are noticeably faster than the Kings (there are of course exceptions, like Pearson; I'm talking overall). That's why I think the Kings MVP last night was actually Kopitar; he controlled the play physically when he needed to, and used his speed --which I had forgotten how much he had (of course, I might be thinking back to last playoffs, when he looked like Maxim Kuznetsov) to neutralize the Ducks' rushes.

Towards the end of the regular season, our wise coach remarked that the team would only go as far as the young d-men would carry the team (Doughty, Voynov, Martinez, Muzzin). Once again, he's right.

Game 1:
DD- 33 mins
VV - 31 mins
AMart- 28 mins
Muzzin - 26 mins

Yeah, apparently they've all been "quiet," especially Gabby! :sarcasm:

 was thinkin the same thing Heyward's a freakin moron. On the OT goal apparently Kopitar's another one of the kings who was quite. Was he not watching the game he had a hand on all three goals! :shakehead

Honestly I also thought during watching the game that this was not Kopitars best game. Not that he played bad (3 point night) but I felt all the time during the game that he was not so dominant as he was in last games against against Sharks. Like he missed a bit of his speed yesterday, got cought few times in defensive zone...

Which is actually good because we all know that he can play better than yesterday and this should scare Ducks the most...

NEVER raise your arms when an opponent scores a goal, even in disgust, because you will get GIFFFFFFED!

This is a classic!

Saw the highlight again of this goal and it's even funnier! Getzlaf seriously celebrated as if it's his team! Someone's gotta make a gif of this! Hilarity!

Almost everyone I've said is terrible and legitimately bad has been traded or gone shortly. That's a fact.

It sounds like a lot of you haven't Schultz ever play LOL. watched him in Washington and he made Green look like Lidstrom.

Last time I checked, Jonathan Quick was still on the roster.

lol - I think Doughty is the only guy on the team he hasn't called for to be traded at one time or another

Shouldnt he (Hayward) try to announce the game unbiased ? He fails miserably. I was watching NBC and sometimes TSN.

Yeah he praises a lot of Kings players but only because he realizes that he talks way too much about the Ducks. So to make it even, he compliments a Kings player so now and then.

It means nothing to me.

Dude is a dipstick.

He was very well smothered. Pretty sure BB know's who the top scorer in these playoffs is and knew he had to contain Kopitar somehow. Couldn't get a shot in. So he made sure to set up plays for others! And did a great job I think.

Gotta also say I really hope that RR and WM get back soon.. There's just too much work for 4 and a half defense men. At least if you're going for a deep run. Gotta spread even the load.

Do they go with a kid who's likely to see some time up here next year in McNabb or possibly Forbort or a guy like Campbell who's older and had a couple of games up already. Or do you go with guys who've had NHL cups of coffee before in Schultz and Bodnarchuk?

Too bad their players won't underestimate the Kings like their fans are. Anyone who would say "we got this in 5" is a moron anyway and is probably more into team colors than the game itself.
