Well, if Sutter scrambles up the lines, and those lines don't have chemistry, how is that NOT Sutter's fault?

Believe it or not, I still like Sutter and believe he's a good coach, but he's got to stop dicking around with the lines like he did tonight.

Kopitar had plenty of time against Getz tonight. Put up a Zero.

Again sure it's ALL Sutter's fault , They lost.

Move on folks.

Sutter is still the coach tomorrow. The Lineup will be the same.

Hope the Kings show up.

They better have the better first period, I am sure they players aren't going to use the excuse (O well Sutter changed the lines).

GET IT DONE.

"Plenty?" Come on.

When a matchup is so bad for a coach that he tries to get his top center away from Selke finalist on the other team, you don't let him do it. EVER. If Sutter had half a brain tonight, Devante Smith-Pirate doesn't score the game winning goal while Richards watches with his thumb up his ass.

Why can't we discuss Sutter's unusual coaching decisions?

I think it's a valid question as to why he made so many changes when the team had been playing well.

Once again, why is it ok to mock Carlysle in the other thread about advanced stats but we can't do it in this thread. If an opposing coach were to continue to send out a duo as bad as 77 and 10 we would be laughing at them, but we can't discuss it here?

Interesting.

It's Sutter's fault, players as well.

Team wide fail for both games, no one gets a pass.

Carter/Kopitar/Quick/Doughty/Richards/Brown, Sutter.

All have to be better.

Bottom six, Lombardi as well, Stop resign guys like Lewis/Clifford.

Futa, stop picking guys like Auger/Schumacher.

Rob Blake just go away

Uncle Phil please buy out Richards.

Morris (Win a damn playoff series where you next go).

Manchester, move already, and stop being the Sharks of the AHL.

I got more hold up.

Wayne #99 we all still mad about the whole no cup thing in 93 (DO BETTER) in retirement.

2003 draft.....

2006 draft......

I'm not saying it's the only reason. But it's a key reason. The Kings are not built to come back from deficits and that line was responsible for 2 goals in the first. And it should come as a surprise to no one because it's been that way all season in the defensive zone with 77/10. It's poor coaching to have them playing together, there is zero offensive chemistry and they are laughably bad defensively.

It's easy to be an armchair coach/GM, but Sutter's lineup choices are mind boggling sometimes.

Guys... enough already with the Sutter bashing. It's silly.

The Kings didn't score a goal tonight. That's not Sutter. Anything but, honestly.

Sorry Tony, not in this case. While yes we didn't score, but Sutter in all his wisdom sent out the Richards line that got scored on, going away from a match up that was working right up until game 3. He's been over coaching these last two game which is directly effecting the scoring too.

Gabo/Kopitar need to get on the board.

No excise for their line.

Going away from Getzlaf should INCREASE their scoring, not have them turn into ghost.

Team wide fail all across the board including Lombardi and the owner, for letting Lombardi resign guys like Clifford/Lewis for the bottom six devoid of scoring.

Might I add that Stoll has sucked this series, The Kings Centers 2-4 have been garbage.

Richards has played maybe three good games since the playoff's has started.

The Kings since game one(this series) have been playing with one good Center (Kopitar).

HAHAHHAHAHAH! I'm not even mad...

-You had to know Sutter was going to dick with the lines... I thought there could be a chance that Richards made the second line. Totally missed Williams back on the top line.

-Toffoli on the 4th line... great... Well TT played the 4th line a lot in the regular season, should be used to it. I mean why play a guy with one of the better shots on the team with guys that can't pass the puck?

-Williams....... Oh man I loved his pass back to the point (where no one was) to clear the puck at the end of the game.... Seems like this has happened before. Dude struggled all night and pulled Gaborik/Kopitar down.

-I bet the Kings won possession and advanced stats. Anyone have the numbers?

-Lewis/Toffoli/Greene/Martinez... now there's an elite penalty killing group.

Edit: My one problem with Sutter was that putting in the rookie goalie made the Kings look like a bunch of Johnny come lately's.

Very true. If you look at their chances matched against Getzlafs line vs whatever line is against them now, they've been silence in the last two games. I don't know how this possible, but if you and I can see this, Sutter is totally blind not to see this too.

Well then it sucks for us that He is still the coach for probably another year.

Short of having Babcock (maybe), no one is ever going to satisfied with the coach.

Probably want Babcock fired at some point too.

Did you noticed once Pearson and Toffoli were put back together things started happening again? They probably had the two best chances in the third.

Yup... but that only happened when "someone" wanted to try and win the game when down by 2 at the end..

Sad, but true. On to game 5.
His presser was a another classic one. I believed he called the press "media *****" [or it sounded like it] at the end.

*really, you can say the word that starts with S and rhimes with buts?

Dude, what are you talking about??? We just don't want Sutter to keep messing with the lines. No one's talking about firing Sutter. Well, no one but you.

Some thoughts -

- What more do you want from Kopitar and Gaborik? They aren't gonna score every game. I thought Brown had a hell of a game.

- Carter is obviously injured and blame shouldn't be put on Pearson and Toffoli. They're still kids.

- Our bottom six is STILL a problem. *******, how long have we been saying this? The bottom six provides almost zero offense. It's been like this for months. I'm so sick of it. Richards belongs on the fourth line. King, Lewis, Clifford are all doing zilch.

- The defense is not the problem. When you can't even muster one goal on a rookie goalie, the defense is the least of your problems. Schultz has played very well and Muzzin has been strong all postseason. Don't get why people are complaining about him.

- Kings need to start burying power play goals at important times. They failed to do so tonight.

The Lewis resign.....Uhhh.

Just makes my blood boil.

It would be fine if the Kings had other bottom six Guys (Stable) that score..

Really hope Clifford is dealt in the off-season to open up a roster spot for Vey/Andy/Shore

Shore would add some very much needed speed and grit/skill to the bottom six.

Again: Lewis would be fine if the Kings bottom six could make up for him not scoring.

But it doesn't and can't.

Guys like Clifford/Lewis need to go.

The bottom six is absolute trash. My expectations are zero points and plenty of stupid penalties - they can't get much lower.

Could be a sign and trade situation....

Let me at least lie to myself until next season on this one.

Two bounces: that's what beat the Kings. Puck comes off the boards and Perry passes it to an open Devante Smith-Pelly on the first goal, and a scramble in the net with a loose puck in the crease resulted in the powerplay goal for Getzlaf. That's all it took to seal the game for the Ducks.

The Kings did what they're known for when you look at possession numbers, BUT, that doesn't mean anything when they are unable to generate high quality scoring chances. People talk about shots and having the puck on their sticks, that's great and all, but what does it matter when the opposing goalie is seeing everything and a good majority of them are from the outside and not the tough areas? That type of perimeter play isn't going to win you games.

Breaking down how many shots were generated by each line and defense pairing:

Gaborik: 3
Kopitar: 2
Williams: 1

Pearson: 2
Richards: 0
Carter: 1

King: 3
Stoll: 0
Brown: 5

Clifford: 0
Lewis: 0
Toffoli: 3

Muzzin: 4
Doughty: 1

Schultz: 0
Voynov: 1

Martinez: 0
Greene: 2

Doughty, Richards, Carter, Kopitar and Voynov all held to a combined total of 5 shots together is outright embarrassing. Sure, credit the Ducks for blocking shots, but the Kings helped by just repeatedly directing pucks in a straight line with their predictable puck movement.

Kings will lose game 5 and win 6 and 7, that's just how it goes. They don't even start trying until they feel they're forced to, something that's been evident for the last couple of years. Even tonight, they didn't move their feet until they felt they had to, down two goals.

Well then no Cup this year. Extending series is for other teams. The Kings won in 2012 with a minimum of games. They will already have 13 in two series, just like last year.

If they get to round 3.

This sucked tonight. Wanted to leave early again. Pathetic effort. Simply pathetic.

I don't know why, but I thought you liked Lewis. Personally, I was surprised by the extension, but then again, I'm just glad he's no longer on our 3rd line. I'm ok with Lewis as our 4RW.

None for the Hawks then either, that series is going Seven games.

The Hawks needed Six to get passed the Blues, and got banged up pretty bad.

No kidding, right? Kopi leads the playoffs in goals and assists, and Gabby's in the top 6 in points.

The last time I checked, this is still hockey, and not basketball.

Or Muzzin. Don't get the complaints around Muzzin. He was by far the Kings most consistent defenseman in the first round and has been really solid so far. When you're losing games 1-0, Muzzin shouldn't be blamed.

Lewis makes your blood boil?
