A lot of you guys are forgetting we lost the first two games of the series and we were dominated in the third and were lucky to escape with a win.

It's great we won but we had to come back twice in this game in order to do it. In addition, Elliott did not give up one soft goal...my friend and I commented how tough he was in goal tonight...all four goals by the Kings were earned.

I am now not so certain that Elliott is going to have a soft game in this series. He is playing dominant in goal. One can hope, however, that he softens up in game 5. That game is now the pivot point of the series. If the Kings can indeed bring it like they did in the third period of game 4, then we have a shot. But this is definitely not the same Blues team we faced last season.

i agree with ron, elliott has played excellent and this is not the same Blues team.

the addition of Leopold and Bouw on the back end has really changed their look compared to last season.

elliott has returned to the form he had in the regular season and is solid. i had him as a goalie in FFH and the dude was rock solid all season.

this combined with STL not losing their mind and taking dumb penalties is why this isn't a repeat of last spring. personally i think LA has taken more dumb penalties than STL so far.

the Blues have gotten some crazy bounces their way that have resulted in goals. you take them out of the mix then this series swings further to LA. the crazy end board bounce to Backes last night, the Quick TO behind the net to Steen. you just can't predict that kind of goal

What you may not be hearing on television is all the shouting in the last two games by Kings fans yelling for Quick to get back in net, stop playing the puck...every time he goes back there, Kings fans are yelling "Get back in net!" and laughing and having a good time with Quick, but there are some nervous ones too.

That's the fun part about going to the games. Kings fans are so much more knowledgeable than they have been in the years' past. This is truly a hockey town now. Although I must admit there were a lot of "refs you suck" chants again even though the refs had a solid game. I chalk that up to too much beer and true Kings loyalty. :)

Thanks!

Rather surprised that wasn't called a penalty.

Nice to see you around Face Wash, haven't seen you much lately. Thanks for not changing your avatar, I always loved that one.

Yeah, when I saw it live it was just awesome, but now seeing the replay it sure looks like boarding to me...then again, Regehr did lead with the shoulder to shoulder so if the ref saw that he probably gave him a pass based on that...and the fact that both guys are really, really big. (And also that Reaves got up right away like nothing happened! )

On a side note, I don't know why Reaves has stopped hitting. It was effective in both games in St. Louis. That guy is huge and can deliver some punishment himself. We'll see if he starts hitting again in game 5.

It's taken me 4 shots of Jameson to chill the **** out.

I told you guys to have faith in Sutter and his 7 D concept.

Dominated in game 3?? The only game we were dominated in was game 1.

the only issue i've had with the refs is their willingness to boot C's off draws. they are calling it on a razor thin line right now. you can clearly see the C don't know what to expect game to game. the guys are getting kicked out on one infraction continually, so there is some miscommunication or gamesmanship taking place there.

Thanks!

Facewash has had the best avatar for *literally* a decade. Can't beat the TTT!

As for the hit, I had a great view of it, and it was truly thunderous. Regher really did have a strong game last night. I've been a bit down on him lately, because he frequently has trouble moving the puck. However, last night he didn't have any glaring miscues that I saw. I think he limited his game a bit more, and just focused on hitting, board battles, and separating his man from the puck.

That Regher play looks like boarding, but honestly, from the official's angle I could see how it might not, plus, Reaves knew Regher was there the whole time - they skated in together - Reaves was NOT unaware, and was able to defend himself. The fact that he sort of chose not to is 100% on him.

I think that's why it wasn't called and it was a damn good call.

I think if Regher had hit him just a split-second earlier, further away from the boards, and actually pushed him into the boards, it would have boarding. Instead, Regher really made contact just as Reaves was himself at the boards. Thus, he really pancaked him, but did not board.

I agree, just a good old fashioned hockey play. Reaves knows that Regehr is there and Regehr takes him into the boards hard, with no contact to the head whatsoever.

Did he get him in the numbers a bit? Yes, but it wasn't a dangerous play at all.

The Kings are moving the puck a lot more quickly, and with a lot more confidence, which has made it tougher to line up for big hits. It's interesting, because it seems that on the breakout, the Kings have shifted a little bit. Usually, their center comes very low and is available for a first pass, or to support a first pass into the middle. Last night it seemed that the Kings shifted to moving the puck up the boards more. Our forwards played a little deeper and were more committed to winning those board battles, with the centerman shifting from side to side to support, and I think doing that sidestepped the Blues' forecheck a bit.

especially with the way Reaves cut back and forth in front of Regehr to get position. That coupled with the point of contact being right on the boards rather than several feet in front...no biggie.

I don't know where you're sitting but the 300s have never been filled with dumber people than they were this season. I'm stunned at the frequency of misinformation and brain-dead evaluation of players/general hockey IQ not only spoken between friends, literally yelled out at the top of their lungs.

Not only are there some really stupid fans up there, some of them are just plain trash. 30 year old drunks with their faces painted screaming at children wearing the opposing team's jerseys. Have a shred of tact, you animal.

I'd say the Kings bandwagon looks more like a short-bus in the 300s.

I was definitely surprised that Regher didn't get called for boarding, but I think agentfouser nailed it:

I think if Regher had hit him just a split-second earlier, further away from the boards, and actually pushed him into the boards, it would have boarding. Instead, Regher really made contact just as Reaves was himself at the boards. Thus, he really pancaked him, but did not board.

If Reaves tries to stop and Regher still plasters him head-first into the boards it's a penalty, but being a full-body check right up against the boards with both players completely upright that Reaves knew was coming, the refs saw it as just a good hit, not a dangerous push/check on a defenseless/vulnerable player. I originally thought it was just a missed call, but I'm thinking it was a the right one now. That had to hurt though.

It should also be noted that all four goals came from within five feet of the net. The Kings got to the front MUCH more consistently last night, and this was the difference in the offense. That drive to the front generated the goals, and it kept the pressure on, generating a lot of other chances. It allowed the Kings to win without really relying on Elliott to make mistakes.

Shouldn't Elliot's GAA be 1.00 after game 3?

,

Or am I missing something?

Their was Overtime in game 1. Thus, an extra 13 minutes or so.

correcto. It is calculated per game by dividing the number of goals against by the number of minutes played in the game then multiplied by 60.

So, a little bit more extra time there which lowers it a touch.

All the points you made above are a "given." Sure, I hear the idiots too, all game long. Maybe I should have said "the percentage of knowledgeable hockey fans have increased in Los Angeles."

In regard to the people yelling "Hey (team name here) fan, you suck" I really don't care for that **** and our more trashy drunk fans are giving our overall fan base a bad reputation.
