Then again, it isn't hard to see why Kenny Albert is the number two guy at NBC (should be first).

He's ok but Forslund is my favorite announcer despite the lesser knowledge of the western conference teams.
Awesome voice and a guy that seems to always have the fair emotions for the teams in the series he calls.

LA Kings are incredible. Three Game 7 wins in the same post-season tells you all you need to know about the character of this team. Great accomplishment for the Kings and all of its fans of Southern California. New York vs. LA in the finals will be a treat to watch. Cannot remember the last time New York faced LA in any sport. Great for hockey to have two great teams and two great markets playing in the finals. I think LA takes this. They are a team of destiny!

I want to wish the LA Kings congrats on an amazing victory last night. Your team is a truly very special one. Three game 7 road victories...absolutely unreal..

Best of luck in the Finals..

After the 3 goals against in the 1st period and eventual loss in the Cup banner game, to the Hawks beating the Kings without Keith in Game 4 last year, to the Hawks, of course, putting up another 3 goals in the 1st period earlier this year when the Kings were on that 20-some game no goals in 1st period streak, and so many other moments over the last 2 years where the Hawks just always got the best of the Kings, up to and including Games 5 and 6 this year, for the Kings to finally come up with one themselves, in Chicago, in Game 7, in OT, was and is outstanding.

I'm hoping the Hawks and Kings can find a way to meet for the rubber match, same time next year.

pretty much how i feel to a tee. i told my wife earlier in the series that, had we lost to the hawks in the playoffs again, they were easily going to become my most hated team. i was so tired of losing to them and feeling like it was impossible for us to beat them when it counted.

that said, obviously that is because the blackhawks are ridiculously good, not that it's hard to see why. and holy **** the class of the hawks' board members to come in here and offer congratulations. major tip of the hat to them. i wouldn't even be able to be on the boards for at least a month, let alone do what they did.

i'm still so friggin' pumped. i'm preparing an email with the gifs of the goal and celebration from this thread and sending them, along with a link to the kings website, to my wife and a friend of ours who is a pens fan but always roots for us when we're not playing them so that they can both re-live the moments while at work :)

:yo: gkg!!

NHL Network is replaying games at 10 and 12 PST. Unfortunately, it doesn't say which game at which time, could be Habs/Rangers at 10, then Kings/Hawks, the reverse or Kings/Hawks both times. Set your DVRs accordingly.

Well, I said it in the pregame thread but you have to expect the unexpected with this team. In hindsight, you'd almost have to figure they would win this in game 7 just to break another record. This team just has a knack for doing the unthinkable. How the f does Justin Williams go from being invisible most the series to a key contributor in Game 7? And another Game 7 goal no less? That's just remarkable. The collective game 7 record of the team and particularly with Richards, Carter, Williams and Gaborik is incredible.

I have to say that when the Kings tied it in the first period, I really thought they were gonna win the game. I thought that was a major momentum swing and was going to fill the Chicago players heads with doubt given how the squandered game 2. But then they scored that ugly goal a few minutes later to take the lead and I thought that could end up being a real back breaker.

That might have been the best hockey game I ever watched. It was definitely won of the best series I've ever watched. Glad to be on the winning side of it!

My god. Hope you trolled some of them back, Ron.

I was tempted but I figured I would be wasting my time. The majority of Hawks fans are good people and good fans. One of my co-workers who I took to a Hawks game earlier this season sent me a text congratulating me.

The Kings became the first team in NHL history to win three Game 7s to reach the Stanley Cup. They were the third team in NHL history to play the maximum 21 games through three rounds, joining 1992-93 Toronto and 2001-02 Colorado. Ironically the Kings played both of those teams in the playoffs, defeating Toronto and losing to Colorado.

The Kings will have home ice advantage in a series for only the second time since 1992 (23 series total the Kings have ever played - this is only the 2nd time they've had home ice.).

Gaborik leads the Kings with 12 playoff goals. Only Wayne Gretzky (15 goals in 1993) has scored more goals in a single postseason in Kings history. Gaborik has 19 points (12-7=19) in the last 19 games.

Listening to the radio, they said the Kings have now played 61 playoff games in the last three years. That is 3/4's of a full season.

The Kings have played 59 playoff games since 2012, the most in the NHL.

Other Elias Sports fun facts:

The Kings are the sixth team in NHL history to advance to the Stanley Cup Final with a Game Seven overtime victory in the preceding round of the playoffs. The others are the 1939 Bruins (Mel Hill), 1950 Red Wings (Leo Reise, Jr.), 1968 Blues (Ron Schock), 1979 Canadiens (Yvon Lambert) and 1994 Rangers (Stephane Matteau). The only one of those five teams that didn't go on to win the Cup that year was the 1968 Blues, who were swept by Montreal in the Final.

It was the first time in NHL history that five first-period goals were scored in the seventh game of a playoff series. There have been 10 Game Sevens with four first-period goals.

It was Sutter's 10th Game Seven as an NHL head coach, which ties him for the all-time record in that category with Mike Keenan and Claude Julien. What makes that especially interesting is that Darryl is the only one of the six Sutter brothers who played in the NHL who never appeared in a Game Seven as a player! The twins, Rich and Ron, each played five Game Sevens, Duane four, Brian three and Brent two.

Martinez is the 2nd defenseman to send his team to the Cup Final with an OT goal in Game 7. (Leo Reise Jr. - Apr.9, 1950)

So happy that I'll still be watching Kings hockey in June.

3 years in a row.

Dean has built something very special. For years, a playoff berth was gravy for this franchise, and a 2nd round advancement was cloud 9.

Today? We're talking about our perennial contender who's playing for their 2nd cup in 3 years. That's how you become a premier franchise.
