Pretty lame how any kings fan could be upset with their efforts today. They played their butts off. A bounce there, or a post there, and we could have won.

Let's hope for better results on wednesday.

Couldn't post about the game until now, but I'm not worried at all. Loved the effort and if we weren't so tired we could have won that. So many near goals that we missed by being a smidge too late, which to me was due to exhaustion. First loss I don't feel awful about.

A loss is a loss, if you're happy with the results/effort of this game I would be worried.

Lol what? The only team that should be worried is Chicago. They had four days off and got outplayed by a tired team. Puck luck got them the game.

Lots of positive results to take away from this game considering the circumstances. Or should I call for heads after every loss? We are not going to win every game and there was a lot of positive stuff to build off of for Game 2. I'm not impressed with Chicago, the Ducks scared me more after the first game even though we won that one.

a bad call here (with a resulting PPG), a post there,a 2nd goal for Chi off a miraculous bounce...the game could have just as easily been 3-1 LA. hopefully the boys get a day off in-between this break and come out with a little more fire for game 2. its going to be a great series

After two rounds of three straight losses and epic comebacks in each, a Game 1 loss just doesn't feel devastating. If they lose Game 2, then I'll start to worry.

The biggest problem here is results don't equal effort.
I can be plenty happy with the effort here. I hate the results. But as has already been pointed out this was a game of bounces and they won the bounces.

At the end of the day we lost this game and now down 1-0 in the series. We need to play better if we want to win.

The fact that you guys are happy with a 3-1 loss worries me.

Edit: Dont get me wrong, we played well but not well enough.

Gotta be better.

Even though we lost this game, this was our best game 1 in any of these series, results aside.

I'm not worried.

None of us are happy with the loss or being down 1-0. We're happy that *finally* the Kings looked like they could toe-to-toe with Chicago. They didn't give up an early goal, they weren't blown out, and they certainly didn't look out of place. Last year the Kings were so outclassed by Chicago. Part of it was our depleted squad and part of it was Chicago being that good. If we get this effort every game, and we bury the chances we balked on today, we'll be in very good shape.

Bottom line is that we needed 4 wins to advance prior to the game today, and we still need 4 wins. We don't need to worry about the Hawks. We just need to handle our business 1 game at a time. No series is won or lost on 1 game. The Kings have already put this one behind them and know they only need to win 8 games to lift the cup again. That will and should be their focus. We can beat Chicago. It became evident today. Now lets go do it starting on Wednesday. After Wednesday, we should only need 3 more wins to advance and 7 to hoist the cup. GO KINGS GO!!!!!!

Missed the game. Worked all day

Sounds like a good game. Saw the highlights on ESPN> Didn't care for the coach losing it when Chicago got the disallowed goal, but whatever.

+ several blatant "interference" non-calls that went Chicago's way...

What, the blackhawks don't interfere at home - ever??

On AMart's dumb penalty.

There might be time and a place to send a physical message, that was not even close to proper time. It was the wrong player, wrong situation and wrong time in the game. It's probably the worst player on the ice, who did absolutely nothing to Quick and it was right after you could feel the momentum in the game shifting to the Kings. The Hawks bottom six has been terrible, when they send Bollig out, there isn't much of an expectation for good things to happen, much like when the Kings had Fraser centering Lewis and Clifford you were just hoping for 30 seconds of neutral play while the good players rested. Martinez for no reason turned that into a PP and eventually a PP goal in what was essentially a one goal game.

The Hawks are not going to goon it up with the Kings, they are going to try and win with speed and skill and part of that is getting on the PP. The Kings just can't go to the penalty box by taking stupid penalties after the whistle against guys like Bollig to send some kind of un-needed physical message. Especially not after taking a couple of good punches from the Hawks early in the game and staying on their feet.

It was a terrible, terrible penalty that had a huge effect on the game.

there was 2 PK seconds to go when the goal was scored.

And it was an incredibly weak call to boot, especially considering all the interference chi was able to get away with thru the first 2 periods.

Well we will have to agree to disagree, I think it was a major turning point in the game because the Kings were right where they wanted to be, which wasn't down early, something that has plagued the team when they play here.

The Kings just can't take those kinds of penalties and give them PP's, especially early in games, the last 13 playoff games we have played have now been won by the team that scored first. If the Hawks are going to score make them earn it, don't give them a PP chance on an after the whistle altercation.

And I disagree it was a weak call, when you skate over from the corner and knock over an already engaged player (who really didn't do anything) long after the whistle they are going to call it every time. And even if you think it was a weak call, why go out of your way to skate over ad knock him down when Mitchell has it under control, don't even let the refs make that call. I know I say this a lot, but sometimes there really is nothing wrong with just skating away.

The boys did good. They need a few days to recharge. Not worried yet.

It wasn't even a physical message though Herby, Martinez literally barely pushed him. That's the beef I had with it. If he took a swipe or crosschecked the crap out of him then for sure it's dumb. Martinez pushed the heaviest dude on their roster and he crumpled like a paperdoll. Then on the other end, you have hawks punching kings in the back of the head or facewashing/visor shaking/chokeslamming them and nothing. It doesn't change the game or the results, but it's a ticky-tack call that obviously served no purpose since the refs weren't trying to control that. I'm not even mad about it anymore, it's just a baffling call to me and wildly inconsistent with the net-front post-whistle play throughout the rest of the game.
