Was Edmonton having a good 3rd because they took over the game or was it partly a result of Colorado being less aggressive with such a big lead. Should be interesting to see who controls the 1st period of game 2.
Colorado really took the foot off the gas. Losing both Bura and Kuemper it seemed they wants to trap a bit

Can Oiler and Avelanche fans take a minute to come together for a second and laugh at all those drive-by imbeciles who said that either team would get snuffed out by Tampa's defense? Lol hockey geniuses.

TB is very lucky Toronto already had their tee times booked and didn’t have 100% focus

Vancouver’s 52 is so much better. 😂😂😂

Anyway, this thread isn’t about the Leafs. They lost in Round 1. And it’s not about the Canucks, they didn’t qualify.
True. We aren't too good, either.

One thing I can say about Toronto is that they seem to show class by not rioting after a momentous loss.

Is he? I saw the one cheap play on Smith, but it was pretty tame by his standards. He looked to just have a strong game otherwise, and from what I saw, there were only a handful of comments about him.

This is a good example of "rent free" being one of the more tired/lazy phrases around.
Oh wait until he moves the penthouse

Hey remember 3 games ago when that controversial Makar goal happened?

Oh wait everything that happened was one game. That was one game. It's true.

LA won 2 of their 3 games in Edm. Real scary

Meanwhile the Avs haven't lost a game on the road yet this postseason. I don't think that continues, but playing in Edmonton isn't as scary as Edmonton fans want it to be.

It will be much harder for the Avs to try to neutralize McDavid without controlling the matchups, but he still has to outscore the rest of his team's mistakes against a team who can absolutely keep pace with him on the scoreboard. McDavid gets away from MacKinnon, okay that means MacKinnon and Makar get who, RNH? Yeah, I'll take that.

The real story here is Edmonton has no answers on defense regardless of who decides matchups.

Edmonton seriously reminds me so much of the Avs 3 years ago right before Makar got into town. A very top heavy team, carried by their elite stars, that doesn't have the defense to match the offensive talent they had. More often than not, the lack of defense burns you. Look at Toronto.

The Avs got incredibly lucky they lost the draft into Makar (It was going to be Patrick lol) and crazy ol' Lou gave us Toews for practically nothing. Not to mention Ottawa giving us 4th OA Bo Byram instead of a super late first rounder. Those three happy coincidences finally made the Avs a balanced team.

The word literally literally had no application there. It makes unquantifiable assumptions. That is what I was getting at.

:dunno: Feels like you're just being a pedant here. The avs literally came 2 goals away from hitting double digits & Koskinen made more than 1 really big save after coming in.

At the end of the day it’s two very good teams going at it

Same with Edmonton and Calgary. It blows my mind that people seem to think they know everything after game 1 you know? We beat Calgary 4 games to 1. That doesn’t make me think they aren’t a superior team. It is what it is. People like to use their labels though. It’s funny

Yep.

In 2006, Edmonton was the last seed in the league and went to the final. After knocking out the Wings and Ducks. Both superior teams with the Wings being a 124 point Presidents trophy team. Then took another superior team to 7 in the final with their #1 goalie injured in Game 1 and without that would very arguable had won it all.

Like you said, it is what it is. That is why they play the games.

A bit of both, but the Oilers deserve some credit for attempting the comeback. Not every team can nearly erase a four goal deficit just because the other team stops trying for goals themselves.

My favorite part of the Oilers playoff run has been Leafs fans losing their shit and trying desperately to soothe their disappointment by deluding themselves that their team of overrated chokers would have been able to beat LA and Calgary.

McDavid and Draisaitl proving, once again, that they're both much better than any player on that roster just rubs a dump truck of extra salt in their wounds.
Alarming that this is your fav part of their playoff walk.

For sure. Edmonton has some lethal talent that can score in bunches. Which will be especially dangerous in this series because we kinda have a habit of this sort of thing...see game 5 against the Blues *sigh*

The good news is that no EDM lead is safe because we like to get scored on within the next minute after scoring ourselves.
