I have never seen a team play worse hockey then the Oilers have and make it this far in the playoffs. I also never seen a team force other teams to play worse hockey in the playoffs either. As bad as the Oilers defense and goaltending has been, it seems the other team's defense and goaltending is just as lousy when they play the Oilers. It will be interesting to see if we ever get to see a normal 3-2 or 2-1 game in these playoffs that involves the Oilers. The Oilers last 6 games in these playoffs have been nothing but complete looney tunes.
Full throttle.

It's because we give up so much in transition, just keep retreating to invite them in. We basically beg the other team to full send through the neutral zone and it's the NHL, players aren't going to see 50 feet of free real-estate and passing lanes and not take them. Then they over commit and the same thing happens back the other direction, so you get offensive insanity.

There's a lot of boxcars watchers that just see high scores and auto blame goal tending, but at last half the goals last game were just nuts shooting or total defensive fails into backdoor wide open nets. Some posters make all the goals sound like the Bozo goal that just went through Kuemper, but they aren't. You can't be expecting the goalies to be making several highlight reel saves each night, it's just not realistic.

I know, right? Those darn Leafs. Looks like Toronto will have to settle for this for the time being.View attachment 555060View attachment 555059

while it's true a lot of those goal no one stops, it's also true that smith let in some that most goalies do stop.

I think people are arguing because it hurt their team. Everyone thought it was offside at first, I get it.

But the rule states that it needed to be touched. Possession has nothing to do with it. Intention has nothing to do with it.

Tag up dump in’s happen all the time, sometimes even intentionally to a corner for them or a teammate to retrieve. If a player pushes the puck over but waits for his team, and himself, to get onside before continuing to play the puck, what is issue? Why are people calling for this to change? We all know that teams need to tag up before carrying on and that’s what happened here. They were lucky as I don’t think Makar did that intentionally but it was a perfectly legal play.

It’s definitely stressful haha
Can you please link or quote THE RULE so we can read this statement about needing to be touched?

As I understand it's basically an über-nerd interpretation of a grey area in 83.3, but open to learning and reading the rule you're referring to.

How crappy is Mike SMith?

Embarrassing he is in the WCF

I bet Koskinen starts game 3

2 goalies=no goalie

SMDH

This series is giving big NHL's version Heat v Celtics vibes where Jimmy Butler had to go insane just for Miami to win games, similar applies to McDavid and Drai.

I still feel COL cannot beat NYR or TB wither either of these guys in goal

Who knows. Francouz has the talent to get hot and give us good-to-very-good goaltending, if he doesn't hurt himself first. Annunen is a young wild card that you can't bank on, but who does have talent. And Kuemper was good for us before hurting his eye.

So it's a big-ass question mark, but that question mark won't necessarily turn into a noose; if we finish off the Oilers...though it very well might...

Goaltending has been shameful for the Oilers. This series would be closer if they had someone capable of stopping a beach ball.

Series is far from over. Edmonton is a tough barn to play in. Hopefully the Avs sustain their play they’ve had all playoffs so far. I’d be thrilled if we take 1 in Edmonton.

Where is the guy I’ve seen numerous people call the best player since Gretzky? Was he playing tonight? Didn’t notice.

There’s at least 5 guys in the league I take before McDavid. Minimum. Let alone all time. But McDavid will always have his regular season trophies.

So that’s nice.
