Gaudreau, Eichel, Larkin, Matthews, Galchenyuk etc.. with Kane and co will make Team USA fun to watch in 2018.

Its too bad they wont play Stone with O'Rielly here the way they both steal pucks is incredible. Gallagher scored but didnt look great otherwise lots of turnovers. Dont understand the lines at all, they have guys playing out of position all over the place. One line has three righties another has 3 lefties. Ill just say its a Dave Cameron effect the guy is an idiot.

Was impressed with how well the young D moved the puck. Really liked the Murray Ceci pair and Tanev Rielly.

The Matthews criticisms are hilarious the guy is playing an NHL all star team with not alot of help. I thought he looked great considering the circumstances.

Cameron is still contemplating if he needs to call a time out in the 2011 World Junior Gold medal game, so you'll have to forgive him if he's a little preoccupied.

but, ya, I thought Matthews was pretty good. He can be better though. and I expect he will be.

I thought Matthews looked really good. He's not a McDavid level talent, but he's a very high upside guy. This tournament is really tough when you haven't played in the NHL. You don't know how skilled NHL pros are until you get there and see firsthand.

According to TSN Auston Matthews was the only player playing in this game.

We know for sure that if he has plenty of time, he can make a pass through the neutral zone to a slow-moving, wide open player. Their highlight package skips over two goals but has two angles of that mind-blowing pass to prove it.

I mean, the guy looked good but it's the neverending shoving-it-down-everyone's throat that makes them the Toronto Sports Network.

Looking forward to seeing laine in his first game. Matthew's wasn't bad but nothing special in his first game, expecting him to turn it up against a weak team tomorrow. Matthews should be on the first line, he looked dangerous on that last line of the game.

Anyone know why Ben Hutton was benched today? I know they dressed 7D but to only get one shift in the 3rd seems odd. Doghouse already?

I thought metthews overall high skill level and hockey IQ were evident. Effortless, heads up skater and positionally aware.

I was also watching to see how Kyle Connor did. Did not seem to get much playing time. Looked a little timid in the defensive zone but in the offensive zone he showed off his elite hands and scorers IQ.

Is Getzlaf a good comparable for Matthews? I thought he looked decent today, you could tell McDavid is just on another level compared to him but he looked solid nonetheless.

Some of the media has but some journalists are trumpeting that Laine might go #1.

Media are looking to make it a two horse race, helps maintain interest/story lines...BUT Matthews is already all alone in the winner's circle...first line centres of his ilk are way too tempting to pass up...

Much closer game than score indicates.Talbot was solid...Much like last year, this young Yankee squad should make some noise in this tourney, providing their goal tending holds up ( not sure it will )

Both Perry ( how did he miss that yawning cage? ) and the fleet of foot, dynamic and oh so versatile Duchene making a case for inclusion on our World Cup team. They make mine, as do Giroux and Hall ( has he already been named? too lazy to check )

Pour mois, Getzlaf no longer makes the grade, and even Stamkos ( since his leg injury ) has seen better days. Questioning our Brain Trust ( or lack thereof ) is, of course, par for the course...

Bertuzzi, McCabe, Zamuner, anyone???
