For those of you who watch HFIK can you give any insight on how important Husso has been to their run. Obviously goalies are very important to any team's success, but I'm looking to see if he's kind been like a Crawford who plays well enough and the team in front of him is really good or if he's pulling his team along like Gigure or Thomas did despite having a great team in front of them.

Husso has been overall solid, and definitely important in the sense that everyone's much more confident in him than the backup goalie. He hasn't really needed to single-handedly win any games though as HIFK have been overall surprisingly much better than the opposition so far. JYP was the #4 seed and it was expected to be a much tougher series, but in the end apart from one or two hiccups it was pretty smooth sailing, with the 4-0 and 7-1 wins and whatnot. So yeah, so far the team hasn't really had to rely on great goaltending to bail them out or anything.

When Husso has an on day, he's really, really good and seems to effortlessly stop everything thrown his way. But he's had a couple of off days as well, so concistency is not quite there yet (that said, he IS just 21 years old, so I guess it is to be expected).

The craziest game was probably game 2 in this series, where Husso allowed three goals in the first three minutes of the game. Not really entirely his fault of course, but a couple of them were a bit soft. He has been able to bounce back from those hiccups really well though, and even in that game those three were the only goals he allowed as HIFK pummeled the opposition for 50 minutes and pulled back within 1, but in the end giving 3 goals worth of handicap was too much and the game ended 3-2.

Finals start this Friday, should be the toughest test yet (the top three teams seem to be well above the rest this season).

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

We do need to understand this is his 'first' real year as a 'pro'. Compare previous years he has been playing only with potential not working on to get better.

Now this year everything has been systematic.

Hude potential and pro training and develope. Blues really have very nice goaltender prospect. Kind of feel bad for Leafs.

I hope he turns out to be something special not just for us but so 8 years down the road Leafs fans will be saying "I can't believe we traded Husso and Gunnarsson for Polak"

Good luck to Husso against Patrik Laine and Tappara!

It looks like HIFK is already up 1-0 in the 1st period.

Hude played very solid game. Couple time mishandled puck and give rebound opportunity, but overally clinical performance, can't say anything negative if you pull out shutout in finals.

Btw this is Hude's second straight shutout game and this is Hude 3rd shutout in this year playoffs. :bb:

Husso gets a shutout.

I only watched the last 15 minutes of the game. During that time, I can't remember a single time Husso faced any real scoring threat. He did try to toss the puck from his glove and screwed up, having to dive back on top of it.

Just looking at the shot chart it looks like Husso was wayyyy outplaying the other goalie and stopped some Grade A chances

Highlights of the game for those interested: http://liiga.fi/videot/2016/04/15/huippuhetket-hifk-tappara

Not a whole lot of Hude in that, but you can see at least one nice save he made to a cheeky play by the wunderkid Patrik Laine (around 1:15 mark).

You can't really argue with two straight shutouts in the playoffs :handclap:

Game 2 is tomorrow night already; or tomorrow morning for you guys, I guess.

Tappara was relatively poor today, probably the tough seven game series against Kärpät still had an effect on them. That said, Husso didn't give them any chances either, played a solid game and the whole team was rewarded with a shutout in the end.
