A lot of people don't realize this. The Kadri trade directly led to us being able to sign Brodie, which is what Dubas initially wanted. The Kadri trade in itself sucked BUT that money getting freed to sign Brodie totally makes it worth it.

That is true.

Avs retained 50% on Barrie so it also took money from Ceci.

Ya I mean they definitely toss the fish, but it is more of a tourist trap attraction at this point. People huddling over one another waiting for the sucker to buy a $100+ sockeye just to see it fly. It is a neat place to be for sure. Seattle is a world class city IMO and they have some of the best/loyal fans in NA. As a Vancouverite, I cannot wait to go check out the Leafs in the Krak house. It will be a complete zoo. My prediction is that Seattle will have one of the best in game atmosphere's in the NHL right away. If they even bring half the energy they bring to the Hawks games it will be an unbelievable place to watch a game

I plan to buy tickets as soon as I can.

If they're serious about winning anything they need an upgraded bottom-6 and another big piece on defense along with a 1a/1b goalie .

Dubas has his work cut out for him.

another big piece on defense? why?

ehhh, sorry this is kind of a backwards way of looking at it IMO. Kerfoot only makes 1M less than Naz did plus it took Barrie walking for nothing along with Ceci leaving to free up the dollars as well. To say we repurposed Naz's money for Brodie is disingenuous. The trade wasn't really good and with Kerfoot likely getting selected it didn't really accomplish anything, I think we can accept that as is and move on.

Maybe they are just trolling the Leafs ...everyone else does, why not start off on the right foot.

Or on the Kerfoot.

Could be. Just seems like a really low rent gimmick and then allowing something like this to get out is bush league on their part.

ESPN is going to have the Seattle reveal and so I can see them making a video like this to reveal the players selected.

When and where is the expansion draft?

Kaplan: The expansion draft will be held on July 21, 5 p.m. PDT/8 p.m. EDT in Seattle, and broadcast on ESPN2.

So with 10M free cap, what does the roster look like ? Do we re-sign Gally/Foligno ? I'd really like to give Gally another shot with us, absolutely loved his game here (except the one pass) overall he was great. Foligno in a bottom 6 role wouldn't be bad either.

Gally was good. Should be on one of top two lines. Foligno seemed like garbage and will only get worse over time. Let him walk.

I would like to see the entire bottom six turned over except Spezza. Entire else should have a ton of bite to their game.

This is just not true.

Could have had Kadri and Brodie at the same time.

The bottom line is the Kadri trade netted the team nothing. Dubas turned a valuable asset in Kadri (plus a third and a prospect) into cap space. Cap space is good, but not at the expense of an asset that should have netted a positive return. If they didn't want to get players back, they should have dealt Kadri for only picks and/or prospects.

I would rather lose Dermott, but if it's between Kerfoot and McCann, I'd rather lose Kerfoot.

Honestly, I'd take either Dermott or McCann before Kerfoot, myself.

If it's really Kerfoot then I have to wonder if there was a bit of a handshake deal made when the Leafs let Hakstol go to be their head coach.
That's what I've always thought.
