NHL mock expansion draft: Projecting all 30 players the Kraken will pick

I would rather lose Dermott, but if it's between Kerfoot and McCann, I'd rather lose Kerfoot.

He's been very good in the playoffs but during he regular season it just doesn't seem like a good fit here. I like the jam that McCann brings. Not to say he's a hitting machine r anything but he'll go to the dirty areas and will drop 'em on occasion

I really hope its neither of Kerfoot and McCann, and they select Engvall or Dermott in that order.

Time will tell. Tomorrow is the DAY.

PRetty obvious Kerfoot was their guy all along. Dubas calls up Francis to ask who hes taking - francis tells him Kerfoot. Dubas then goes out to find his replacement. Dont think Dubas does that deal without knowing Francis is gonna take kerfoot.

lmao @ seattle trying to cover this up

Looks like a fantastic addition to the team IMO. I've been critical of Dubas this offseason but I can appreciate a good move like this where a talented player is added to the lineup at a very minimal cost. Hopefully it all goes to plan tomorrow and he doesn't get taken.

It would be hilarious if for every other pick they did the fish throwing skit to announce and then for the Leafs pick they do an automated "Siri" voice over a blank screen announcing they're taking McCann or Dermott, just to troll us Leaf fans and whoever posted that video

They are a new team, a big spectacle is a good way to get noticed. Besides why can't hockey be fun and stupid sometimes.

fun and stupid will get very very old after player 5 or 6 there will be 30 of them. A big spectacle for Alex Kerfoot? makes it look small rather than big. Big deal for say Carey Price? absolutely that's a huge get

This is just not true.

Could have had Kadri and Brodie at the same time.

The bottom line is the Kadri trade netted the team nothing. Dubas turned a valuable asset in Kadri (plus a third and a prospect) into cap space. Cap space is good, but not at the expense of an asset that should have netted a positive return. If they didn't want to get players back, they should have dealt Kadri for only picks and/or prospects.

Kadri played himself out of Toronto, and seems to be trying to do it again in Denver. I don't think much can be said for the prospect (Rosen), as he is back in the Leafs organization anyway. The same people dumping on the Kadri trade would be the same ones crying that Dubas didn't move him because of his playoff antics - can't have it both ways...... Plus, who knows how things play out if Kadri isn't moved..... who's to say that would have led to Brodie coming.

So McCann over Kerfoot should be a nice upgrade, worst comes to worst it's just kerfoot again. And I hope we're leaving one forward spot (i.e. thornton's spot) open for the younger guys to fight over this year (i.e. robertson/Anderson/Brooks/Semyonov/Amirov).

So that pretty much $10m in capspace to sign a tandem goalie to replace Freddy and fill two forward spots to replace Hyman and Galchenyuk.

So probably $3-3.5m for the goalie. Which means we could go with 2 $3-4m forwards or one $5-6m forward and one $1-2m forward.

You're creating a strawman.

I was not saying Kadri had to be traded. I understood why management would consider moving him, but I always felt I'd rather have the guy that I need to reel in emotionally vs the guy I need to poke with a stick to make sure they have a pulse.

The bottom line is Kadri had value, and that value has now seemingly turned into the exact same as if Kadri was placed on waivers. That's not good.

Is it tho? Who plays 3c?
Mcann is not a good option and most leaf fans have Kerfoots cap being used to fill other holes. I guess Sutter would be an option if he doesn't decide to go home to Alberta, both teams there make sense in their own way.

If McCann is not chosen I am excited with him playing one of the top 2 LW spots.

Servelli says Foligno could come back.

Leafs need to get away from Thornton and Mikeyev who provided net zero production.

Mccan is a start. Foligno would be good. Those two would replace Kerfoot and Hyman

If you tune in and don't enjoy it, turn it off and just look at the resulting list at the end.

Thornton had one last shot, he should not be resigned. Mikeyev is at least useful in other roles.

If McCann is meant to be the 3C, it's a problem. If he's meant to be a winger, that's fine, but still doesn't address the jam were losing from Hyman.

That's a 20 man roster. Ideally you have 23 man, but at minimum you want to carry a couple spare guys for road trips.

And then next year McCann, Campbell and Reilly are due for raises. More guys will be lost.

Better hope there's a lot of great $750k guys out there.
