believe it goes to share holders

No. There are likely dozens if not hundreds or thousands of shareholders that encompass current and former employees as well as investors. The current CEO bought the company for $500M in 1991 so he’s likely a billionaire now.

They also didn’t specify, if at least I didn’t see if it was specified, if the transaction was all cash, a swap of stock (i.e. you get Microsoft shares that replace your Activision shares) or if it’s a cash/stock deal. There may also be clauses that require Activision employees to stay a certain period of time before vesting their stock.

Regardless, it’s fair to say a lot of money made a lot of money today.

Tnx for making it clear to me. That news where Activision shares increased 40% before the transaction makes sense now.

There’s typically a closing date on the transaction and if you own the stock prior to the closing date you get the benefit of the transaction so shares of the company being acquired will typically jump to close to what the acquisition price will be. Those benefits could be a stock swap so you could in theory buy Microsoft stock at a discount if Activision shares are cheaper and they’re going to be swapped on that date, or if you own the stock by a certain date you could be eligible for the next dividend that Microsoft pays out.

Now if the deal falls through then the shares will tank and people will lose a bunch of money but that’s rare for a company like Microsoft to lose out on a deal.

I tried my best to play Hollow Knight since everyone was saying its such a great game. Could not do it. I gave up maybe 2 hours in coz I found it so fn boring. The Ori series is so so so much better.
Yes, it's not for everyone, but Hollow Knight has a specific atmosphere of desolation with great music. The Ori series are great too. Colorful and emotional. A Same type of game, but very different. Liked both.

Jeez, I almost forgot: Horizon Zero Dawn 2 comes out this month (Feb 18).

I'm got some other stuff on my shopping list, so I'm going to have a wait a month or two before I can get it.

In the meantime, I will amuse myself by reading all the insane reviews on Amazon.

Still dragging my ass through FarCry 6.

The weapons system is boring and I think they made a mistake giving you access to just about anything you want from the start.

Particularly pissed that I bought a jacked up sniper rifle from the "black market", which only accepts a limited special currency, and it didn't show up in my inventory. Apparently a known bug. Great.

To be fair, I've been spending a lot of time on side quests so that can get repetitive even for such an expansive world. I would liked to have seen more mysterious problems and puzzles. Only found a few, and nothing nearly as compelling as the serial killer meme running through FC4.

There are a lot of seemingly meaningless collectibles which is stock for Ubisoft, and again it would've improved the experience if reading more of the notes left around Yara had some obvious meaning like a launched quest. Instead you're not sure if you need to read them at all or pay attention to the contents.

No interest at all for me wrt the hunting or fishing etc., which all seems tacked on.

Hoped to be more excited about playing it but it's getting dull.

I should start playing the main story more and see what happens. If you overdo the leveling they increase the difficulty of the enemy forces in all areas after you hit the next milestone so that's decent, I guess.

I have Guardians of the Galaxy sitting there and HZD2 coming soon, so maybe just start plowing through FC6 now. Good enough to finish but not to really savor and seek out DLCs.

I've played Far Cry 3 through Far Cry: New Dawn, and never really could get into any of them, except for Far Cry 5
which had a cheesy story but the open world was a blast and the graphics were superb. The setting for Far Cry 6
didn't appeal to me so I gave it pass. Looks like I made the right call.

for PS only? Cest la vie.

As a non-gamer who just wants a cool non-complicated game to play when im stoned .. Im kinda disappointed in the video game industry.

Last among us 2 perhaps ..

Halo Infinite is open world. There are a lot of open world games these days. It's the direction a lot of games are going in now.

I'm disappointed by the insistence on open world game play, TBH. I miss the days of games with a tight narrative arc and good game play. Sometimes I don't want to make a million decisions and feel like I'm missing out by not doing a bunch of (potentially time/content gated) side quests or exploring zones. I'm much more likely to finish a game that gives an "on rails" experience.

I’m about 30-40 hours (skill level 130) or so into Assassins Creed Valhalla. I like it better than I did at first but it’s too damn big and a lot of it just feels like filler. The main story is pretty intriguing and I like the characters, plus it’s a pretty beautiful game, but for me too much of it feels like a chore and there’s way too much going on. I’ll finish the story but definitely won’t complete it to 100% or probably get anywhere close and I doubt I’ll have enough steam left to pick up the DLCs.

I feel like a lot of open world games have gone overboard with “bigger is better.” I’d much rather play a smaller game that’s of higher quality with a meaningful story than just grind through a bunch of monotonous tasks because the developers just wanted to pack a ton of shit into the game.

Back to ACV, it’s a fun and relatively easy game that’s a good time waster, especially if you’re buzzed. You could do worse. But, if you’re not familiar with the Assassins Creed series then check out Black Flag, Origins, or Odyssey.

Pretty much the reason I stuck with it. But you're right there is a ton of filler, but worse than that, the bugs. :(

The bugs are awful. I had to do one of the castle sieges three times because every time I got to a certain point I would levitate into the sky until I died. Finally just did the siege without going by that area but it was super annoying. And one time I was carrying a chest and I walked through a puddle and the chest magically disappeared into the puddle and I had to die and start the mission over because I couldn’t recover the chest. It’s wild how many bugs there are at this point.
