Confirmed Trade: [VGK/CGY/PHI] Noah Hanifin (75% retained), Mikhail Vorobyov to VGK; 2026 1st , 2025 cond. 3rd, Daniil Miromanov to CGY; 2024 5th to PHI

People said the Sharks got ripped off in the Meier trade and they got a 1st, a 2nd (that can become a 1st), a former first round pick and a roster player.

This trade is insane. Especially the condition on the 1st.

Because he's a 27 year old top pairing defenseman in the midst of what may be a career year. The Hampus Lindholm trade set a pretty good precedent of what you should expect as a return for that caliber of D.

A former 1st round pick, a 1st, two 2nds and an offsetting contract.

Let it all out though. Your GM got his ass handed to him by a division rival GM.
Lindholm came with an 8 year extension, Hanifin didnt.

So you cite the Lindholm deal, and ignore the multiyear salary dump in that deal. That deal was essentially a 1st and a 2nd too.

I'm not defending the trade today, it's underwhelming, but at least argue in good faith

Numerous players made anonymous remarks about the Kucherov fiasco...there has to be decent support for it though none will publicly state it
They can complain about it, but I can't picture a world in which Marty Walsh restricts the rights of his members in some way, especially when it comes to playoff participation. Someone mentions it, he'll point out how dumb it is.

And really, a lot of these posts could [should] be split into a BoH thread on this, but any change to the CBA - and this would have to be a change to the CBA - has to be viewed as either "the players are getting something" or "the players are giving something up." I can say what the players are giving up [opportunity to play in the playoffs] but that really has no direct impact on the owners [they're not out anything, they still get the same playoff revenue]. What are the players getting out of this, and if they're getting something that benefits them, what are they giving up to the owners in return?

What's stopping Calgary from taking back bad salary if they're being paid for it? You're rebuilding aren't you?

And the return for Lindholm was a 1st, two 2nds, Vaakanainen--who is a player for them and a cap dump. Without an agreed extension.

Speaking of good faith.

Look out Western Conference because this is going to be one heck of a Blueline even if Hanifin is likely just a rental.

Hanifin - Pietrangelo
McNabb - Theodore
Hague - Whitecloud

X - Martinez, Hutton

Even though he is getting old, no way Martinez is a scratch if he is healthy. He was the leading shot blocker in the NHL last year and leads the NHL by shots blocked per game this year by a distance.

Conroy sucks at negotiating.

The Vancouver deal was really good. He got fortunate that Sharangovich has turned out well.

Zadorov, Tanev and Hanifin all pretty brutal trades considering what other GMs gave up for lesser players today
Conroy is hurting the Flames, another poor return. This is your one chance to get massive returns.

True but where do you break up the current chemistry on the Vegas blueline? I double McNabb and Theodore or Hague and Whitecloud are split up.
