Confirmed Trade: [VGK/CGY/PHI] Noah Hanifin (75% retained), Mikhail Vorobyov to VGK; 2026 1st , 2025 cond. 3rd, Daniil Miromanov to CGY; 2024 5th to PHI

What's even crazier is if Vegas trades their pick it conveys the year after LOL!

They really bent Calgary backward.

Vegas literally said "you can have our 1st, but if we want to trade that 1st we'll give it to you a year later"

Talk about being bent over backwards.

well, at least that 2026 1st is unprotected.
could turn out very well.

Calgary REALLY doesn't want to be giving a good pick to Montreal in the Monahan deal, so they're making sure their pick will be top-10 and Montreal gets Florida's pick in the 20s...

So what's the prognosis on Stone's Capitis?
Still more cap space left in his spleen

When trading for a true contenders 1st it kind of makes sense to push it as far back as possible. Every year further down the road increases the chances that Vegas falls off and the pick is better.

Doubtful. All the players want to go to 4 or 5 destinations now. Vegas is one of them. They don't even need picks. Just pick whatever 3 free agents you want to each off season. Welcome to the NBA folks. I knew it would come eventually.

The problem is best roster rarely wins in the NHL so its way more of a gamble to do that. There is too much luck involved once the playoffs start.

Yes each of the also rans will have a shot once in a while. Like the Milwaukee Bucks while they have Giannis. But make no mistake. There are now a few teams that will never have to rebuild. All the others will have to spend 5-7 years rebuilding for a 3-4 year window now.

You'll still have a random case of someone who gets hot at the right time and wins it as an 8 seed which in the NBA never happens

Al I missing something? We still got a 1st rd pick, probable 2nd rd pick and a decent prospect for an UFA who controlled where he could go! Seriously I like what Conroy is doing. Finally tearing it down to build the right way. All these Flames fans that are complaining are the one’s who would complain no matter the return.

Were the 2012 Kings really an 8 seed? That was a cup contender that had a crappy regular season and it's the only time it's happened in more than 50 years.

26 year old guys who were going to hit waivers aren't prospects. I like him as a waiver claim. As the "prospect" for a top pairing guy? Not so much.

What decent prospect?

I think 8 seeds in today's world of the cap and balance of competitiveness are always gonna be better than say the 94 Sharks or 98 Sens but relatively speaking if somehow SEA or NYI got in this year late on a hot streak and won the whole thing those would be pretty bad cup winners relative to the top 4 in each conference now

Why would they have there 1sts suspended lol for trading them
Because they didn't want to trade the 2024 first because they may use it and made it conditional 2025/2026 so they can have say. I mean at the end of the day they're garunteeing a first-round pick, but still it's pretty dumb how Vegas is finding everything to happen in their favour. LTIR, etc.

Goodbye, sweet prince. Vegas got him practically for free. No more need for me to give a shit about the trade deadline now.

There allowed to do it or trade wouldn't go through

Life isn't always fair.

Do you honestly think the Preds have shot? How about the Flyers? I don't think there's even a remote chance. You could see me on that if they had an underperforming roster like last years Panthers or the 2012 Kings. Neither 8 seed has even a 1% chance this year.
