Tell me more about the future then, cause regardless of the vesey situation they're still looking at high paid defenseman in staal and Girardi that suck, Nash has underperformed. Relying on guys like Lindberg and Hayes to bring depth scoring when Hayes was getting less and less minutes as the season went on right? AV still has glass doesn't he? Yandle is gone, Dan Boyle is gone, who's gonna move the puck up to the forwards, Skjei and McDonough gonna have to do it all. I am not bitter in the slightest about where he went but I do find it curious that NYR fans can beam About some bright future ahead. I personally don't see it. I even said the day he narrowed down his teams. The negatives outweigh the positives for me and the team that got handled by the Penguins got worse, not better for Me.

I don't know about worse. But I certainly do not think they really improved. And with some of the contracts they have and more importantly how AV allocates icetime, it's going to take some time before they can really improve.

I mean I think short term they lost the Brassard trade, but won it long term. And with all their young guys, there's certainly some potential there. But that's really offset by Lundqvist's age and contract, and Staal and Girardi and how they've been playing recently, and how they're played and their cap hits. Sure NYR has other young goalies in the system... but Lundqvist making 8.5m is really going to hamper things even if they have someone else to step up as he declines.

So well I hope for the best for Vesey, I don't understand his decision.

everyone who is so salty right now are basically saying they wouldn't have bothered with Vesey if he wanted to sign on their team.

Amazing how bitter some fans of other "finalists" for Vesey are. No one is saying this kid is a surefire first liner. I think most Rangers fans will be thrilled if he's a 20-25 goal scorer in his prime. Nothing wrong with signing a free asset. No risk move.

I'm real happy w a solid 3rd liner. It's a free talented prospect . Top 6 would be great but it's not that easy he will need time to grow

funny to read the jealousy amongst a lot of fans. Well done NYR management getting this done. Anytime, any team can add a top talent for free and on a ELC, I give them a lot of praise no matter who they are. A lot of teams attempted to get Vesey signed and when all was said and done, NYR was the last team standing. Good work Gorton and the rest of management to accomplish this

Apparently Vesey and his agent were looking hard at the 2nd and 3rd contracts down the road and realizing that the Rags only have a few guys signed through 2018. This was all about the payday. All this stuff about being close to home was nonsense. He just wants to get paid and the Rangers probably give him the best chance to do so.

Good for the Rangers. Getting a top prospect for nothing is obviously great. Good for Vesey too. Can't blame him for choosing Manhattan. Hope it works out for both sides.

Welp, good for NYR.

I don't think Vesey is the piece that turns that team from a bubble team into a contender, but he's a cost controlled asset with a high upside on a roster that needs youth. Good get for NYR.

To NYR fans I don't want to sound like a hater. I don't hate any team in the league except Detroit and its simply just my opinion on the hockey I have watched and what I know about the roster.

I understand they may have missed there window but the Rangers went to the finals and semis . Last year they lost to the cup champs and looked tired

They do have sine good young players. It's not doom and gloom they need to retool and moves like this helps

absolutely that was a big part of his meetings and research on where to sign. Most players plan ahead like that for contracts

Washington got the benefit of the doubt when they lost to Pittsburgh. They won one more game than us and it was on some stupid fluke goal that probably wasn't even a goal.

Probably because they didn't lose to PITs 3rd string goalie and were not completely dominated for long stretches of time. The NYR series was never in question once Zatkoff was replaced. The WSH series despite the odds being in PITs favor after their early lead was much more of a question mark.

Rangers played more hockey then any other team in the past what 3-5 years going into that series with the Pens as well? Whatever team on decline. Can't wait for that top 5 pick next year who will play with Vesey.

Disagree that it was all about the money.

It was the whole package that NY had to offer.

Oh come on you guys were freaking out after Game 2!!! And when Kreider scored that shorty in Game 3.

And when the Rangers scored that early goal in Game 5.
