Lots of NCAA guys in New York these days

I hear you but you have to wonder why he went with the rangers. That team is on the downside if you ask me. Where other teams are on the upswing with a lot of young talent. This is a real head scratcher but it is his right to pick where he goes. Just do not plan on winning the cup for years to come.

What a great move for the Rangers then if they manage to convince Jimmy Vesey to make a terrible career decision and start his career there. Lure a NHL ready third line player according to scouting reports as a part of a rebuild. Best way to start working their future into a better position.

I'm super excited the Rangers have signed Vesey!!! WTG Gorto, lets see what other tricks he's got up his sleeve.

Except that it's not the fact is since 2012 the NYR have given away picks and prospects like candy on Halloween when you do that the prospect pool suffers and that's fine if you win championships like Chicago but New York hasn't.

It's going take a couple years to restock the farm.

I've been critical of Slats trading picks away like candy as much as anyone. While they gave up their 1st rounder in 4 consecutive years (13,14,15, & 16) They've also added 4 legit young talents as they were trading away picks. While Burke followed this logic in TML, he was much more unsuccessful at then Slats was.

Cam Talbot
Mats Zuccarello
Kevin Hayes
Jimmy Vesey

This doesn't include 2013, when they took Buchnevich & Duclair in the 3rd round. Both of which are 1st round talents.

I stand by the idea of 1 solid NHL player per draft and the Rangers have done that.

Probably because they didn't lose to PITs 3rd string goalie and were not completely dominated for long stretches of time. The NYR series was never in question once Zatkoff was replaced. The WSH series despite the odds being in PITs favor after their early lead was much more of a question mark.

Pens only dominated the Rangers during special teams. At ES, the series was pretty even.

Glad this saga is over. The Rangers are the team that meet the criteria the least of all the teams on his list. Buffalo or Toronto seems to have been the best fit to grow with a young up and coming lineup. The Rangers are in no man's land, they're not a contender and it don't look promising that they will be anytime soon. I guess he got blinded by the lights of the Big Apple.

Rangers played more hockey then any other team in the past what 3-5 years going into that series with the Pens as well? Whatever team on decline. Can't wait for that top 5 pick next year who will play with Vesey.

Leafs had the most playoff games between 99-04, too.

12 years and 1 playoff appearance later... here we are.

Rangers was the wrong choice for him he could have played with a real #1 Center in Eichel. Rangers will be in a rebuild in 3 years when the Sabres will be contending for a cup!

You do realize a good chunk of Rangers roster is 26 and under?

Hayes, Kreider, Miller, Zibanejad, Stepan, Buchnevich, Fast, Skjei, McIlrath. Zucca is 28. McDonagh is 27.

Oh no, we lost a 3rd round pick for nothing.

Whatever shall we do without that 3rd round pick? I'm so lost without it.
