As a flyers fan, I hope for the following 3 things to happen

- preds win a cup in the next 5 years
- vesey is a bust
- preds draft a hidden gem superstar with buffalos 3rd rounder

Even though NYR are rivals, it has nothing to do with them. I just feel like small market teams like Nashville already have enough of a difficult time attracting free agents. I wish they would close that college loophole

In b4, yes I'm well aware that it's in the CBA and this is well within Veseys rights, that doesn't mean I have to like it. Just felt like he misled Nashville for 4 years

The hate is unreal. Not contenders.... Before last season we were a perennial playoff team. Will make the post season again this season. We all know once u make the post season anything is possible.

This is such garbage.

The teams own your rights for up to 27/7 years at least, which in the cba is a power to the owners for convincing the player to take a joke of a deal when nba/nfl is 4 years and then free agent.

It's just hit me that the funniest thing about this saga may yet turn out to be the fact that Buffalo traded the pick with which Nashville drafted Rem Pitlick for Vesey's rights. We keep hearing from Buffalo fans how unconcerned they are that they wasted a third-rounder on Vesey because third-rounders are lottery tickets anyway, etc. etc., but Pitlick was one of the most underrated prospects in the draft and has, in my opinion, the potential to raise his profile enormously and make Buffalo fans rue that trade in several years if he develops well.

Several years that he will be spending, Nashville fans will be happy to learn, in the warm embrace of the NCAA...

Long Island isn't Manhattan

Pretty sure you can live in Manhattan, one of the boroughs, or experience the city when you live in the general vicinity. The Islanders and the Devils use the appeal of "playing and living in the NYC area" when appealing to potential free agents and draft picks.

Does this mean a wingers on the block now or will they role with their current forward group? Good job NYR.

As a Flyers fan I was hoping that Vesey wouldn't sign with NY Rangers or Pittsburgh.

This just makes my day even worse, first my work truck breaks down on the NJTP and when I finally make it home I gotta hear about Vesey signing with the Rangers.

And neither of them have near the success with the pitch. It's a pain in the ass to commute to Brooklyn from NJ or other NY suburbs (where many players tend to live). Commuting to Newark is easier than Brooklyn, but you are playing in Newark.

It's an apples vs. moldy apples vs. wormy apples comparison.

You do realize the Preds already used the 3rd rounder right?

Nope, you need both #1C &#1D to have a chance in the playoffs.

I can see Rangers squeezing into playoffs. 6-8 seed.

The goal should be competing for Cup, and not just for Wild Card spot.

He must have really low confidence in his ability. Went to a place with zero pipeline to replace him as everyone around him ages out.

Literally 1 Rangers forward is over 29. One. Aged out of what? Committing a crime for buying beer under 21?

Every single time there is a high profile signing like this, it never works out. The players never live up to expectations and it typically happens to the Rangers. Look at Brad Richards... Rangers fans probably think they are getting some star but will be heavily disappointed. I won't be surprised if he busts and is an AHL player or a mediocre player.
This isn't a high profile signing.
This isn't an overpaid UFA where you're paying for what a player has done instead of what he's going to do.

According to HFBoards to only thing that should matter when deciding where you want to start your pro hockey career is whether or not the team you sign with has a good chance to win the 'Cup next year or very shortly thereafter. As usual I'm also very impressed with the amount of Rangers experts we have here who are fans of other teams.

This thread delivers. Best part of the signing.

I'd assume this heats up the Shattenkirk talks again.

Yeah, safe to assume Sweeney in Boston is back on the phone bigtime with his cap space and prospects looking to seal a deal now.

Congrats to the Rangers. Really curious to know what they promised him that no one could match. Then again, I think it has been the Rangers for awhile now with the Bruins and Devils as the next closest picks.
