For a non-skater, Hank's age isn't a factor. One year of serious injury following a 40-goal season is not evidence of a decline. "Loss" of Yandle is addition by subtraction because his defense was poor, he refused to shoot the puck, and Skjei will be a better all-around LHD. The lack of picks and prospects for him to compete with opens the door for Vesey to play at the NHL level right away, so that might have been the biggest draw for him.
