And Lunqvist's age. And Nash's decline. And they loss of Yandle. And the loss of draft picks. Those are pretty big too.

For a non-skater, Hank's age isn't a factor. One year of serious injury following a 40-goal season is not evidence of a decline. "Loss" of Yandle is addition by subtraction because his defense was poor, he refused to shoot the puck, and Skjei will be a better all-around LHD. The lack of picks and prospects for him to compete with opens the door for Vesey to play at the NHL level right away, so that might have been the biggest draw for him.

I would assume the city played a huge role. When choosing between a city like New York City versus Buffalo, it's not really much of a choice if you view most things as comparable.

I've only driven around Buffalo never visited, so I can't say for certain, but yeah you can't beat NYC and an original 6 team. :dunno:

Anyone want to predict some lines?

Kreider --- Stepan --- Zuccarello

Vesey ---- Zibanejad ---- JT Miller

Buchnevich --- Hayes ---- Grabner

Jensen --- Jooris/Lindberg ---Gerbe/Hrivik

Hrivik/Gerbe

I really like that lineup Young, can grow together and I think we have a good chance to make the playoffs again.

Guys who I would trade: Nash, Glass, Staal, Fast. Girardi is untradeable.

Most pressing need: a top-4 RD who can be a PP QB/PMD....like Shattenkirk, Trouba or even Cody Ceci

Don't like this? Have the NHL change their CBA, so the players don't get bent over like they did in 2013

"Rangers have no future"

Traded Brassard for Zibanejad, promoting Skjei's minutes and now signed Vesey.

The Rangers will rebuild on the fly and field a competitive team while continuing to develop quality NHL players as they have been since the lockout.

Doesnt look too bad for the future either after this. Age listed. Zuccarello at 28 allready and nowhere near the list:sarcasm:

JT Miller (23)
Stepan (26)
Zibanejad (23)
Kreider (25)
Buchnevic (21)
Vesey (23)
Hayes (24)
McDonagh (26)
Skjei (22)

As a Hawks fan this is disappointing and leaves team still a mess upfront

As a hockey fan I honestly don't understand why he choose NYR. Cup window has been closing and will continue to do so in coming years
