Isn't AV really fond of Glass? You don't think he'll sneak in the lineup?

Gorton sent Glass down at the beginning of last season and only had to bring him back up because the Stoll/Etem experiments failed.

I don't think our bottom-6 will fail this year w/o Glass.

Shocking decision --it must have been non-hockey reasons.

A team on the decline with no future --but it is NYC. Tough to resist.

<mod>

We had one bad defensive year with two poor contracts back there. We actually have some good prospects on D, and we're certainly going to make a move with all our forward depth now. We have a solid young core and just added to it. There isn't much in the pipeline moving forward because most have already graduated. Ain't a bad thing and we can be competitive with this, and some moves on D. In goal we're set too. After Hank we have two very solid D prospects. We're fine.

Worry about your own team (which I know nothing about and don't care one lick about either) before concerning yourself over ours and our future. Sorry we took your boy. You can throw a party if he sucks. Have fun with that.

Huh? McDonagh, Skjei, Klein (for now) and (probably) Shattenkirk by the 2017 season. Staal and what's left of Girardi will suffice on the 3rd pair until one or the other is moved or bought out. That's a lot better than the Dallas defense.

The savior Skjei! Not much there. Hoping for Shattenkirk means nothing yet.

Yes. No future. No prospects, wasted picks, etc. Every team has players in the 20s. On the decline, Vesey isn't turning the future around. If you have plans of seeing the same core for the next decade simply because of their age and assume improvement only....

Vesey, buchnevich, skjei are rookies . How many teams are adding 3 good young pieces this year ?

Yea they need to do more but don't make it sound like they are horrible.

I'm probably one of very few non-Rangers fans who had fun with this whole Vesey Watch. Hockey entertainment for the summer. Shame he didn't sign with the Bruins, hope he scores many goals against the Habs.

JT Miller (23)
Stepan (26)
Zibanejad (23)
Kreider (25)
Buchnevic (21)
Vesey (23)
Hayes (24)
McDonagh (26)
Skjei (22)

No future

Pens, Washington, Tampa, Florida just for next year from the East.
Montreal, Isles about the same level or a bit better.

Buffalo, Toronton, Columbus, Carolina challenging in 1-2 years.

You are naming young players but don't see that much talent there, not 1 player that you fear.

no point posting it anymore. its quite obvious that there is a crap load of jealousy in this thread now. IMO(as a non NYR fan) the future of NYR looks unbelievable and its quite obvious it is extremely talented and impressive. People that think otherwise is jealous or has zero knowledge. In a few years, this team will be a very good team

You also forgot to mention Lindberg in there

Woohoo lottery picks in the future. Add that generational talents the Rangers will draft by being in the basement plus this core. Watch out!

Yes, none of those players are stars minus McDonagh and he wasn't great last year

doesn't mean they cant turn into stars though ,

just because the majority of people here thought , it was between Boston and Buff [i not sure about if Buffalo was second or TO (could have been just a lot leaf fans hopes)] doesn't make Rangers a bad choice

Vesey really could solidify the top 9 if he can make the pro transition. He reminds me of a left handed, LW Stepan. Nothing really flashy but solid work and good hockey IQ who knows where to be without the puck. Gives AV some flexibility with the lines. Nash will probably move back to RW now if he's not traded away with Miller, Kreider, Vesey down the left side. Playing off wing could be good for Nash looking to rebound this season.
