I've only driven around Buffalo never visited, so I can't say for certain, but yeah you can't beat NYC and an original 6 team. :dunno:

Anyone want to predict some lines?

A lot will depend on how camp goes, so this is just going by last year and plugging in a few spots:

Nash - Stepan - Zuccarello

Kreider - Zibanejad - Miller

Vesey - Hayes - Buchnevich

Grabner - Jooris - Fast

Gerbe/Lindberg

Lindberg starts the season on IR, so Gerbe is 13F until Lindberg comes back in November, or whenever.

Defense is another animal, as we don't know what their plan is for Girardi. If they truly monitor his minutes, it would be something like this:

McDonagh - Klein

Staal - Skjei

Holden - Girardi

McIlrath

Then in goal is Lundqvist and Raanta, of course.

Wasnt tampa pretty ravaged by injury and didnt yet have services of drouin who looks 10x as good as vesey? Not many think rangers are better than tampa right now

They are better than us. I don't see why we once again can't be the 4th best team point wise in the East though. Pittsburgh and Washington are the top two teams in the Metro. I think the Panthers might take a step back after all their moves. But beyond that it's wide open.

Point being its the HF thing to think the Rangers are on a decline. HF is always. Always. Always. Wrong.

Shocking decision --it must have been non-hockey reasons.

A team on the decline with no future --but it is NYC. Tough to resist.

Our bottom six will be much better than last year.

Which isn't saying much. It'd be impossible to not be.

The Rangers will rebuild on the fly and field a competitive team while continuing to develop quality NHL players as they have been since the lockout.

This team without lundqvist won't be good.

No future  Have any salt for my popcorn?

I see a lot of 2nd/3rd line talent and then look at aging G and poor D (+ some awful contracts on Rangers books) and I don't see this bright future

Especially with all the assets thrown away via trades by Rangers as well in recent years

Rangers are the Dallas Stars 2.0

All offense, no defense. Except we have the much better goaltending.

Huh? McDonagh, Skjei, Klein (for now) and (probably) Shattenkirk by the 2017 season. Staal and what's left of Girardi will suffice on the 3rd pair until one or the other is moved or bought out. That's a lot better than the Dallas defense.

Yes. No future. No prospects, wasted picks, etc. Every team has players in the 20s. On the decline, Vesey isn't turning the future around. If you have plans of seeing the same core for the next decade simply because of their age and assume improvement only....

I hate the fact they got both him and Hayes and the teams that draft them get nothing (Buffalo also gets screwed here). I hope they eventually look at that rule with NCAA.

What? Buffalo doesn't get screwed. He made it clear that his intentions were to test the market. They knew full well the risks of trading for his negotiatong rights. They would have been wise to just have kept their pick and entered the fray when he turned FA on August 16th which was gonna happen anyways.

Isn't AV really fond of Glass? You don't think he'll sneak in the lineup?

You're right. Maybe we're trying to be like the Pens instead.
