So what uo

so what you are saying is that over the past 6 years, where we have been in a Jim Benning rebuild, and you guys have been competing with 2 of the best players on earth, you have won 1 more playoff round?
When you put it that way.. it's clear our franchises have been virtually identical for the last 6 years. I keep forgetting you are not allowed to have good players on your squad.. it's an unfair advantage for sure.

Also, in those 6 years we had Chia and Holland.lol This may be the first post I've ever read that suggests we had a GM advantage over, um, anyone.

All I’m saying is that we have been in different stages of our cycles. The Oilers have been competitive window, and in a we have been rebuild. Our window is finally opening after a long period.

Fair point on your gms.

I do hope you read the part where I said I'd be happy if the Nuck's won it all!

And, I'm an Oil fan, don't get me started on rebuilds.. or shitty GM's.lol

Is it unlikely that 5 or so players will continue shooting at this percent an entire year? Probably.

But team wide the Canucks S% is only marginally higher then the last 6 teams to lead in the category. All those teams had a full year of stats. In 2021-22 St Louis ended the year with a team wide 7.22 S%, higher then Vancouver's current 6.91.

St Louis also ended that year with 3 shooters over 21%, 1 at 17.4% and 5 more hovering around 15%.

But Vancouver's shooting percentage is unprecedented 🤣
St Louis would have won the cup if their goalie didn't get run.

They did regress the next year but one good season is all you need.

Imagine the conversations Benning and Chia had in the press box's during their time in Boston. Dumb and Dumber 100%

Well, looks like you have your answer. They keep on rollin' and are actually getting better.

This team has always had the talent: Petterson, Hughes, Miller, Demko, Boeser and so on. The problem is they've had a dysfunctional organization who couldn't put together any semblance of depth. That has officially changed.

I think the people are right that PDO will drop off back to the mean.

The question is, will it drop because the Canucks score less, or will it drop because the Canucks shoot more?

Embrace it! We haven't had this much to look forward to in almost 12 years. Wherever this year takes us, it's been a fun ride.
I'm trying, but I've been burned before. I am in a deathmatch with optimism.

Kidding aside, I don't see us getting out of the conference in the playoffs. Next year though, our core young guys, in particular, Hughes, will have made another jump forward. This year the playoffs will be gravy and it almost feels like we're playing with house money. Sorry for the mixed metaphor. Next year though...

It's so amusing to see the same arguments I've seen for years. No, you see, this team is different. I know every other team that was shooting unsustainably came back to earth but not this team. It's different because bllllllleerrrggggggt derk derk.
Nobody is freaking saying that the numbers won't come done. What we are saying is when they do, it won't be an 85 point team all of a sudden. The skeptics were saying that there would be a collapse. And the falling shooting percentage would bring the collapse on.

Canucks are 23-0 when leading after 2nd period (All in regulation). I'd say that's a pretty solid defensive team considering how often teams blow leads these days.
And all the ̷s̷a̷l̷t̷y̷ ̷h̷a̷t̷e̷r̷s̷ skeptics think a falling shooting percentage will cause this team to collapse. That's what the argument was 10-20 games into the season. Now they turned the argument into whether the shooting percentage will fall or not.

Hey Nucks fans congrats on your teams success this year . I'm a Philly , Jets fan living in Winterpeg and I can tell ya it's a lot more fun winning than losing . Both teams are playing well so don't let people bring ya down , just enjoy it . Woot Woot
