The first day trades can be made is Sunday when the CBA is finally finished and ratified. John Shannon says that Sunday or Monday is when he thinks a deal will go down, we'll see..I'm kind of having my doubts about it.
Thank you very much for the information.
I was not aware of the doom's day. There has been so much conversation about everything else so I couldn't even find the correct answer. Much appreciated. Now I can do all kinds of other exercises and activities before that big day. I'm very excited about the weekend though, in so many ways. In so many ways.

I'm wondering if kadri will be traded, because it seems like he will :(. Nonis has mentioned not trading reilly and gardiner but hasn't said a word about kadri. I'm kind of getting worried now.

I wouldn't lose a split second of sleep if Kadri was moved for a young center with size who could effectively play in the top 6.

Why should we worry about anyone if both teams get what they need?

Agreed. I kind of still hope he finds success with this team though.

Kadri's is a decent player but IMO his ceiling is Mark Ribeiro 2.0

If he can be moved in a package for a true #1C we need to make that deal.

Mike Ribeiro is pretty much a 70 point player

Kadri is a lot more physical

If Kadri turns into a 70 point physical centre we are GOLDEN.

Nonis clearly said young for young is going to be his approach to deals.

Maybe it will be Liles for Luongo?

That would be my guess to who's involved. As well as the Leafs getting a defenceman coming back.

Might have to get creative....

Liles, Kadri, Bozak

Ballard, Luongo

If the Leafs end up taking on some additional cap that in turn allows Vancouver not to buy out anyways, maybe they would be less likely to ask for more picks/prospects in return. Liles has 1 more year than Ballard and the Leafs can always amnesty him if he is as brutal as Canuck fans think.

I think kadri has the potential to be better than ribeiro IMO. I know people are saying that kadri can be moved for a numer one centre, and while I know that's true I still feel that he deserves a legit chance. We know how he can play in Toronto, and we know he can handle the pressure of the Toronto media. He's a great player regardless of the scrutiny, and if he leaves that will decrease, which will only improve his play. Kadri is a safer bet than someone we haven't seen in Toronto. I doubt he'd go alone for a proven number 1, he's not enough on his own. He is ready now, and it doesn't make sense to trade him now.

They do actually remind of each other. Neither one can play defense at all but they got the same game going on. Kadri's approach to the game is more aggressive and hard nosed oriented than Ribeiro's though. Ribeiro is more like that ratty type of snitch.

The player that makes the only sense from a need standpoint for both teams is Grabvoski for Luongo.

Going into a 64M cap, you need to exchange salary for salary, need for need, this trade can help both teams and that is when deals are made.

5.33 for 5.5.

My only problem is Luongo improves us out of drafting Jones, Mackinnon, and Drouin for a false playoff run.

I'd prefer a summer deal after we draft.

Can I ask what you mean by "He's a great player"?

You don't actually mean he's a great player, it is just that you like him? Right?

Great players are Malkin, Kopitar, Doughty, ... you know players who have proven something.

Kadri has some potential, and he's shown he can get hot and pile on points for short bursts of time. Leafs have invested quite a bit of time and effort into him, so they'd hopefully get a decent return for him if he was moved. I don't think anyone is suggesting he be dumped, or left unsigned at the end of the year.

But we all know he is not a great player, he's a prospect.

I guess it is just a pet peeve about every player being called a star, or great , or ... when superlatives should be saved for the deserving.

Our Center depth would look like this:

Bozak, Connolly, Kadri, Mcclement. Unless JVR can play center well, that doesn't look too promising.

I'd say Connolly makes the most sense from an age perspective. Luongo in his early 30's, and Connolly a 31 year old center.

Phaneuf and Connolly
for
Luongo and Edler

I was listening to TSN 1050 Tatti and Hogan playing counter opinions on a Luongo trade, and Hogan playing Gillis kept insist on wanting a Center back.

A deal if done will have to include a Center, a player that can help out right away since the Nucks window to win is now and closing. Kesler is out, 48 game season, not many games.

Leafs are not going to trade Gardiner, or Rielly. Giving up too much age and potential and losing too much capspace.

A #2C for a #1G, good trade off, yes.

Grabo is not a player that is irreplaceable, losing Gardiner or Rielly would hurt more. The stalemate of trading the usual suspects Bozak, Kadri, Connollly,Lombardi ect...Gillis won't go for. We will see if this is realistic.

Connolly will be a UFA next year, off the books. Grabo has a 5 year 5.5 per contract, from a contractual POV, this would offset Luongo's 5.3 per until the soft years kick in.

I don't see a Phaneuf deal with our D so bad, we will need a veteran to lead the Rielly's and Percy's. Too much to give up there.

I don't mean that he's great in the sense that he's a legend.

He is a great hockey player...you can't seriously be denying that. He's not just "good". No where did I say he's a star, or even that he's a great NHL player because he's not an nhl player yet. I do, however, think he will be a great nhl hockey player in the future. Great= better than just good ...

Agreed, all Kadri is missing is about 40-50 points more than what he's shown so far in the NHL.:sarcasm:

Has this kid ever been given a long extended look by this team yet? It's usually been a yo-yo back and forth with the Marlies and Leafs. I think it's just time to give him a full slate of games to see what he is fully capable of doing out there.

Nonis stated that Rielly and Gardiner dont make sense and wont be traded and then it broke to Maclean who said Kadri yes and Bozak yes.

Nazems as good as gone imo.
