How is this deal going to help Gillis win the cup this year? Or next? Window is now and closing, besides why are you giving up 2 Centers? I thought we were weak at C? Capwise we gain nothing, first Gillis wouldn't go for it, and second we get no cap relief, that's the problem proposing deals on a board. Everyone thinks putting lipstick on a pig is a beauty queen. Unrealistic proposal.

your acting like gillis has 10 teams running at him throwing offers for LOU....

Kadri + anything for Luongo and I hang up. There is just no way I give Luongo the player, fair value, given that you get a 33 year Luongo on an absolute albatross contract in return.

Why would we give up our top forward prospect PLUS our #1 C or young budding top pairing defenseman for Luongo? Vancouver is acting like there's a line of 15 teams bidding for the services of a prime Luongo.. Well sorry to burst your bubble, but there is really only 5 teams that can realistically stomach that contract and really only a handful who are looking for a veteran #1 goaltender.

Please Nonis maintain the holdout and force Vancouver to show their bluff.. There is no way they are comfortable allocating 9.3M to goaltending and allowing that tension to continue to stew in the dressing room going forward..

Vancouver should take bag of **** for someone to take that contact off their hands. No thanks. Roll the dice this year, if Reimer plays well there is a small chance the Leafs could make the playoffs.

If not, keeping building and retain a high draft pick in a sensational draft year.

Luongo doesn't do anything for this team, they're not even remotely close to resembling a contending team. There is no team identity and dealing youth and prospects for a 33 year old goalie signed until he's 43 serves no purpose long term. Absolutely none.

Actually a goalie like Luongo is vital to growing a young team... Edmonton with all of these over hyped young players are a loosing team primarily cause they're no different than the Leafs BAD GOALTENDING = loosing team and a loosing culture.

Fix the goaltending then you'll start to see TEAM GROWTH and if the Leafs can get Luongo on the right deal which IMO the right deal doesn't include Kadri, Gardiner or Rielly you do it.

The best I would offer on a take it or leave it is Bozak, Frattin and Franson if they insist of including those young guys than the talk should move to something like the Jays did this summer and have Vancouver add Kessler other wise just stick with Reimer and Scrivens and see how Reimer bounces back or look elsewhere.

The problem is I don't think Luongo will be at the Price/Miller/Thomas level for much longer. And in 3 years, you'll be wondering why you're paying a guy 5.3 mil whose posting up average stats, and Grabo will still be producing in 3 years. Grabo's contract isn't great, in fact I'd say it's lousy in term, but it's better than Luongo's by a mile.

Goalies are in better shape then ever, Brodeur and Thomas are good examples of guys playing into their late 30's. Even if your theory is remotely correct, it is still worth a chance. At worst you are giving up a #2C at 5.5 for the goalie we haven't had since Cujo and or Eddie. No wonder this team hasn't made the playoffs in almost a decade, coincidentally the last time we had good goaltending.

100% correct

great post!

You are ignoring what all the analysts have said, Gillis is not going to give Luongo away. He rather hold onto him if he is going to get Connolly, Lombardi, 3rd pick proposals. Again he wants to improve his team to give him the best chance to win the cup in the next 2 years. Nonis is not giving up young players of the ilk of Gardiner or Rielly no matter what NUCKS fans believe, either Leafs give up something or there will be no deal. Better to give up Grabo than Rielly or Gardiner or a 1st rd pick. If push comes to shove if Grabo is not dealt, I find it hard to see there will be a deal and Leafs goalie and number 1 Center search will continue. Again.

No matter what Luongo says I don't think he's happy being a backup in Vancouver. What if in the games he plays he looks bad then what?. It's a dangerous proposition to keep Luongo in Vancouver, at the end of the day I'm guessing he'll go to Florida even though it doesn't make much sense with Markstrom on the horizon.

Grabovski seems to be getting underrated now.

I understand his pay isn't IDEAL. But he would have gotten more on the market. Let's be real here, almost every free agent aside those that take discounts are overpaid.

I wouldn't even say Grabo's contract is "bad" at all. First off he's our best centre by far. Trading him we go from the worst centre depth in the league to maybe the worst of all time. Also, he's a 60 point guy that plays very good defensive hockey, for some reason you guys seem to think these type of guys grow on trees. Not to mention that he plays with the absolute passion and toughness that this team needs MORE of.

look at it from gillis's point of view only... you think LOU will be happy sitting on the bench the entire year?

and GRABO aint going no where.. get OVER IT

Posturing... what do you want Gillis to say? Ohh we dont want him, he's too expensive we will trade him for a bag of pucks?

Has he said anything? I thought it's the hockey insiders that are breaking the asking price. Beats the the he Gillis will accept a hockey stick and a bag of pucks for Lu trade some believe here.

More and more i think about it we are getting Lu 100%

Someone in MLSE "leaked" to the largest radio host in the country that Vancouver offered us Lu for Kadri and Gardiner and that deal might of cost Burke his job...

It's so obvious they have done this so the deal that Nonis pulls off will be looked at as a "miracle deal" and they look like geniuses for letting Burke go.

Watch the deal be Connolly + Colborne for Lu

For what that is the question, and don't say Lombardi. I can't stand any more dumb trade proposals tonight from a homers Point Of View.

who are you? the king of knowing whats a fair proposal? you have business meetings with nonis and gillis?

what happens if no trade happens, we start the season and Schneider continues his hot play , Reimer and Scrivens hold the fort for us and we are in a playoff spot. What is Luongo doing besides making 5.3 million to make quirky twitter posts and look suave with his greasy hair behind the bench? Canucks would be pretty much forced to accept any trade at that point.

kind of silly to overpay for Luongo now isnt it?

I'd rather trade for Bryz tbh. We could probably get him for Komisarek or something equally crappy. Low risk, potential for high reward.

id rather have Bryz and keep Kadri than bank on Luongo being able to carry us.

either way I think this is a classic case of Leaf fans over-valuing a commodity and thinking all of ours are useless.
