why are u taking his Grabo proposal seriously

Then in all seriousness, if you thought I was not being serious, if you were Gillis, what would you want for Lu?

Since you are not getting Rielly or Gardiner?

You think Bozak, Connolly, or Lombardi will get it done? That's what I love about Leafs fans, they expect to give up what is essentially a bag of pucks for a number 1 goalie, and with the magic of hockey boards, a dumb GM accepts. Gillis is not bag of pucks dumb.

Vancouver should take bag of **** for someone to take that contact off their hands. No thanks. Roll the dice this year, if Reimer plays well there is a small chance the Leafs could make the playoffs.

If not, keeping building and retain a high draft pick in a sensational draft year.

Luongo doesn't do anything for this team, they're not even remotely close to resembling a contending team. There is no team identity and dealing youth and prospects for a 33 year old goalie signed until he's 43 serves no purpose long term. Absolutely none.

There is no way we get Dion Shoeie and Aulie for our piece of crap Jamal Mayers Ian White Stajan Hagman

lol that is laughable if you think this deal will be made by Calgary:sarcasm:

sad if naz leaves.... we really never gave him a chance...

waste players like connolly ate all his MIN'S

its hilarious that people want to get rid of our hardest working and highest scoring center yet get all riled up about a prospect who has never done anything for us except score a few pretty shootout goals.

talk about bias.

I don't think a GM apparently asking for a ransom of Kadri, Bozak, and Gardiner or Rielly is going to accept Connolly or Lombardi types.

Really if you are Gillis, you know you have a glaring hole at C until Kesler is back, and even then you need a #3C if last year's playoffs was any indication. If you are Gillis Grabo makes you think.

The salary trade off will work for both teams. Leafs haven't had a #1G since Belfour, they solve this with Luongo. They haven't had a #1C since Sundin, losing Grabo you don't lose a #1C but gain a #1G.

One area finally shored up. Now you just need a #1C.

one is 26 the other is 22 and was drafted 7th overall... the potential is huge... and if naz had the opp bozy did playing with kess and lups you wont be talking right now

You must be torn on this, being a fan of both teams.

Most Leaf fans who want to include Kadri in the deal do it because they don't like him. You both want to trade him away from the Leafs and get him for the Canucks.

This. when has trading the future ever been kind to the leafs? We traded 2 first for Kessel (who I love as a player and is happy to have ) but yet we are still ****. I'm down for two more years of rebuilding. Adding a McKinnon to this team is just what we need then we can go for a goalie to complete the #1D, #1C and #1G

You didn't answer the question. Still waiting, would you rather trade Rielly or Gardiner so you can keep your biased favourite player, or would you like to fill a huge hole in goal, which hasn't been filled since Belfour was last in net for the Leafs?

I go back and fourth with adding Lu...

On one hand i feel his confidence is shattered, he has a huge 5 hole and has an albatross contract that can effect the future.

On the flip side, it worked with Cujo and Eddie...

I think the KEY to the Luongo deal is 2 words amnesty buyouts... As i understand we can buy out Lu after 3 full seasons (including this one) and neither us or the nucks would be on the hook for his cap hit when he retires. It would cost around 20 million but not many teams can afford a move but the Leafs can.

That is a decent option considering he is about to turn 34 and probably only has 3 good seasons left.

Grabos potential to score 30/30 is VERY HARD to replace. not only can he put up big numbers but he works his butt off and that is contagious.

We would be a laughing stock to trade one of our few elite players for a goalie with a shaky track record lately and a gross contract. Canucks fans would have a field day.

I will try to look on the bright side for the two ways this could end.

On one hand, we may get a legitimate top 5 goalie in the league. On the other, we get to keep our best offensive prospect and a good player in Bozak.

this is not even a legit question because theres nothing to indicate that it has to be either Grabo or one of our blue chip dmen.

I think something like Bozak, Kadri, Holzer and a 3rd rounder could get it done. And even that is a bit of an overpayment for such a big contract.

Heres a question, why do you assume the Canucks will get anywhere close to their desired asking price? what happens if NO ONE wants Luongo and they are stuck with a 5million dollar bench warmer??

Keep in mind his 58 points were obtained under a run and gun offence. But that's not the point.

It's MUCH harder to get a #1G, otherwise Cujo and Belfour would not be so fresh in our memories, he's shaky yet both Nonis and Burke were extremely interested in Lu? A Goalie who is still regarded by most as one of the premiere goalies in the NHL.

What would you rather have, a Goalie on par with divisional rivals, Thomas/Rask, Price, Miller, or Price. Or Scrivens and Reimer?

It's a mismatch if you chose the latter.

so because Kadri would look good playing with 2 of the best players in the league we should deal our best centerman away??

how does this logic make sense.

are you calling bozak our best center

i would rather give kadri a shot and see what he can do

The problem is I don't think Luongo will be at the Price/Miller/Thomas level for much longer. And in 3 years, you'll be wondering why you're paying a guy 5.3 mil whose posting up average stats, and Grabo will still be producing in 3 years. Grabo's contract isn't great, in fact I'd say it's lousy in term, but it's better than Luongo's by a mile.

How is this deal going to help Gillis win the cup this year? Or next? Window is now and closing, besides why are you giving up 2 Centers? I thought we were weak at C? Capwise we gain nothing, first Gillis wouldn't go for it, and second we get no cap relief, that's the problem proposing deals on a board. Everyone thinks putting lipstick on a pig can be dressed up as a beauty queen.
