I like this trade. Pens fans are super happy to see him go, which isn't always a good sign, but there is a connection with Greener and the Winterhawks. Travis has a rep for getting the best out of younger players so this could be a windfall for the Canucks. If it doesn't work out, well, it's not like you lost something that isn't replaceable. (even the pick)
On paper, this smells like a win. We'll see what happens n the ice.
Pen fans aren't happy to see him go because he's a bad player (although his NHL potential is fairly questionable), it's just that he had no place here, and had we waived him, Shero would have claimed him. So while we didn't get much, something /anything is better than nothing.
As for Vancouver, if he pans out there, great. I think most Pen fans would be happy for him/them. It's not like it's any skin off our backs, as he was never going to get the chance to pan out here - he just hasn't been that good when giving the chance to play. He had a pretty good group of games in 15/16, but then we went and got Schultz. Ever since then, he's bombed it here and been a disappointment. And if DP doesn't pan out, it's not like Vancouver gave up anything significant for him. 4th rounders get tossed around like candy and most picked there in the draft are not NHL regulars. It's a cheap win/win trade for both teams.
