The fact that Stevie Y did this means he just fleeced Allvin. You dont fleece Yzzerman

I guess one does not have much choice when one is negotiating against basically the hockey equivalent of Darth Vader.

Why trade a first round pick that was high in a deep draft, a pick you rarely get for a rental, and also add your own high second round pick? Even then, it’s very likely this pick becomes an unprotected pick in 2024 that could end up being a lottery pick given NYI old core. Hronek is fine, the price paid is not. This is Benning-level trading where you simply pay the price for the player you want, no matter what that price is. I feel stupid hoping this time would be different.

This better be part of a larger and better trade because on its own it is pure incompetence

I seriously can't understand the thought process that led to going after Hronek. Like he's a PP specialist top 4Dmen that is bad in his own end. What type of brainstorming led the Canucks brass to believe this was a good idea? It's mind boggling.

Hronek is a good player and this is a massive overpay. Also shocked Detroit did this - they're not exactly deep on defense.

The timing of this move makes it especially bizarre. Why not wait until the offseason when you can see who shakes loose for cap reasons? Why f*** up your cap situation even more going into the offseason, where you are now capped out without a full roster? Just bizarre stuff.
Exactly, Canucks aren’t competing and didn’t need this deal at the deadline. Could have waited until afterwards to see how that first round pick matures.
