Making this trade means they have to clear out OEL/Myers/Pearson/Boeser, convince Demko to be happy, find two top tier matchup level D, an elite defensive winger, an elite matchup C, and can no longer afford to trade Miller.

Oh man. The win now model is the impossible model. Good luck.

I look forward to the NHL player > magic beans argument from the re-tool bros

This whole organization must have a rare medical condition where the presence of extra draft picks will cause anaphylactic reaction AND immediate explosive diarrhea.

It's either that, or the whole management regime is run by JEB clones.

Pick one.

Just what I had a modicum of hope we were finally going to f***ing rebuild they go and pull this shit. Hronek isn't even a bad player but what's the goddamn point of getting a 26 year old when we're nowhere close to be relevant?

Aquilini still giving marching orders on this doomed franchise.

What on earth.

Hronek is a good player and a RHD, and has multiple years of team control. But he's an offensive D and won't have a lot of PP utility here. Will help our transition game considerably.

Two high picks seems like a lot.

No idea what Detroit's doing, either. Their rebuild is going til 2030.

I need to process this one. But we were never rebuilding and people sticking swords in their guts are angry about something that was never happening.
I think it was okay for people to get excited about the Canucks using their f***ing picks in THIS draft. Forget an extended rebuild.

brutal trade. The product of a GM falling in love with a player the same way Benning fell in love with OEL. Very Benning like with the idea of an accelerated rebuild.

It’s the price that was paid. Never once was convinced this was a rebuild. But this is bad value.

Brutal. I don't even care how good Hronek is. This trade indicates management thinks the Canucks can compete for a Cup in the next few seasons. They cannot.

The dreams of a rebuild are dead, but mediocrity continues.

All hope and excitement for draft just got shit on massively.

I think I'm done with this bullshit, always the same stupidity over and over and over. Ffffffff

I haven't watched a full season in years. Hell, I only keep up with the Canucks nowadays through highlights, you guys here and the very occasional game. It's well worth your sanity.

I actually don't mind this, but maybe I'm higher on Hronek than most. It'll be nice to have another defenceman who can transition the puck fast and effectively. He's also young enough to fit our core (Pettersson and Hughes).

I don’t hate at all getting a young, right side, transition based defensemen.

I do hate giving up that NYI 1st.

Hronek is very good. But weird move at this time.

We've locked ourselves in for another 10 year retool as it's inevitable that this team will be good enough to make the playoffs but get beat in round 1 or 2.

Repeat the process in 3-5 years when we have to trade Hughes/Petey/Demko after we realize we just aren't good enough.

I guess we aren't seeing another Finals appearance for 15+ years.

Yes, Hronek is a good defenseman. He was playing fantastic hockey this year up until recently

He's as consistent as it gets in terms of production. Very very up and down defensively. But you're getting a good hockey player
I don't think many here doubt the player. It's the direction. We were finally encouraged by the picks and prospects this team was starting to stockpile and then, in typical Canucks fashion, management goes and blows that up.

This is terrible. I actually had a glimmer of hope there for a brief moment.

A likely top 15 pick and top 40 pick for a win-now player who isn't even worth that type of value.

I won't be watching another game this season.

They're going for the playoffs again next yeat everyone! Talk about misjudging where you're at as a team.
