I'm just wondering why some people have to resort to put downs and slagging other posters?
unable to make their point without dissing other folk?

Getting close to looking for an ignore function on this site.

And I would not be shocked if they traded that 1st for another middle pair d-man and we watch the Canucks miss the playoffs, again, by 15-20 points next year. Let guys walk as FAs and trade the next 1st, again. Repeat.

We have been here before right? I swear we did this for years and years with the Sedins mostly a better core.
I'm pretty certain that they wont trade their 1st (judging by all the hysteria over this one)...although nothings for certain.

I sometimes wet myself so I use these:

I fully recommend them!
getting closer by the day

It is a nightmare, I was so hyped for this draft also, so f***ing hyped man, 3 picks in 2 rounds, it was so exciting, in a deep draft, Could have literally drafted all Defense and fix this D in 3 years.
Zero guarantees there.

The top of the draft is littered with Griifin Reinharts,Cam Barkers Juolevi's and Haydn Fluerys.

I still Can't believe it, I truly thought with the deep draft, there was no way they would be stupid enough to trade draft picks in this draft, truly
People complained endlessly about Benning not having a plan. JR quite clearly said we are not rebuilding. Retooling around core players is clearly the plan. Give it a chance.

There is still an elite level draft pick on an elc coming in that can help this current core in 2 or 3 years (possibly as soon as next year with some luck). This team is going to be more talented than any time under Benning. We have to give this management group a chance to show they can put the right pieces together better than the last group did.

Except Hronek + Demko coming back is going to hurt our draft position. What if we draft 12-14? That player may be another Lekkerimaki where we have to wait 4-5 years before they make an impact

This move would have been better if it was done at the draft.

People are confusing not knowing the plan with the team not having a plan.

Given what they paid for Hronek, if I'm Nashville or any of these teams that are thinking they can rebuild in a deep draft I am calling the Canucks over and over and over and pitching them my 2nd pairing 24-26 year old d-men. Hell i'd send back a 4th round pick and just take the Canucks pick for...

Let's say Dante Fabbro? Ya. I could see the Nashville convincing this group to give them the top 10 pick for Fabbro, 100%.

I have a feeling the organization will be completely on an island with this. They don't have support from anyone from what I can see.
They have support who they think they only need support from, and that's this f***ing one minded brain dead ownership

There's a few people in wait and see mode who figured they would trade to try to support Pettersson and Hughes.

Even those people seem a little reluctant.

Given this particular draft I think this has the potential to be the worst draft and deal in franchise history and I still don't think the team is remotely close to the playoffs next year + they still have an incredibly weak prospect pool + they won't have much coming and won't be a destination many want to come (except maybe Russians I suppose).

It sucks that if its not a full scorched earth rebuild its a failure.

Finally someone to displace Myers, and provide a decent chance for young players to develop instead of playing without possession.

Ooooh we have a 1st round pick coming in on an ELC still. Not like that's something that every team automatically gets or anything lol! They don't get any credit for being 7th last in the standings and BUYING at the deadline, but at least possessing their own 1st round pick. They're the only team in the league that seems to think that's a good enough stance at the draft given the position they're in as a team. Every other team in the same position keeps all their picks, especially for a draft like this one, and gets a haul to set themselves up for the future. Not the Canucks apparently. We should just be happy they have their own 1st!

You realize that NO other team in the position the Canucks are in thinks this way right?

Let's put some things into perspective before we burn the city down.

Here's the last time the Canucks did a similar type of deal and traded a first round pick for a player that was entering his prime (JTM)...

1st round pick (Shakir Mukhamadulin - not in NHL yet)
3rd round pick (Hugo Alnefet - not in NHL yet)

Here are some of the reactions from HFboards...

Etc.etc.

Anyways, a sensible take is to wait for the NYI pick to play out and to see how Hronek performs and what the roster is going to look like next year.

I don't know why people just resort to crying and whining. People are literally saying they're going to stop being fans.. it's freaking hilarious.

Is there a reason the NHL hasn't stepped in and forced this band of idiots to sell this team?
Because this mickey mouse league thinks the Arizona Coyotes are good enough. No way the Canucks fall under their bar for incompetence.

This team is so frustrating. Why give up futures AGAIN for a player now when the core has proven to not be good enough.

This just continues the cycle of mediocrity...

Wth this is the second dumbest comment I've seen today.

How are there any guarantees any D man we pick will pan out?

Relax, I missed the word potentially.
It's still better than adding a 25 year old RFA who is gonna need a raise next year, on a team that's 27th in the league.

It's the same cycle over and over, mediocrity for life
