In the event that they felt like they needed to give up picks for a stable RH #1 partner for hughes, I'd say okay but our team isn't in the position to be doing something like that.

But that sad part is I don't think hronek is even that.

Hronek is absolutely not a top pairing dman. If he was there's no chance Detroit trades him.

I’m not that pissed off about them trading the Islander’s pick for a RD. But the timing is terrible. If you wait till the draft, the extra 2nd is likely not needed here. Just a terrible idea to be trading picks for players at the trade deadline when you are a team near the bottom.

More bad process.
I dont understand why that 2nd needed to be in there regardless. That’s likely a top 40 pick that we can use to seriously shore up the D in a really strong draft. Baffling shit.

Didn’t you hear? We’ve got Hronek and his soon to be large contract extension. Defense is solved.

That's quite the price..
If the Chychrun price comes out and it's not too far off from this, that'll be hilarious.
I forgot I even posted this earlier. I’m pretty sure posters here could be a GM from home and operate better than some teams out there. MS for GM and M2B for Assistant GM

I will say

No other organization buys at absolute highs

And sells at absolute lows

And when patience is a virtue, we usually double down in the form of a brutal contract instead of just saying…… cap space is kinda nice.

Truly wild thinking from this organization.

Same shit. Hronek is fine im sure. Good even.

We are chasing an insane uphill cimb. The team hasn't even established that they are a playoff team but we are talking about capitalizing on a 3 year window?

We are over the cap next year. Going to be in ltir again. We have no prospect pool. We need to shed an absurd amount of cap. We going to use even more picks to try and add for a playoff run?

We are praying for everything to go absolutely perfectly to maybe make one run.

Lol how did that also need a high 2nd to get done? And he’s injured? And needs a new contract soon. What a f***ing joke. This is a Benning special.

At least the Canucks are getting absolutely killed on social media.

Like the owner and executives even pay attention or care though. It's like they're intentionally alienating their fanbase or they really are morons of the highest order.

Ahh so New Jersey wasnt trading firsts to get better faster. Gotcha thanks for clarifying
LMAO...Teams rarely trade picks in the top 5...Maybe check and see how 1st round picks were dispatched last season..and for what ?....Maybe to get better faster.

Four 1sts were traded last season..Six, the year before that.

Precisely what happened when Miller was traded here.

Many people, rightly or wrongly, have been comparing this draft to the McDavid draft. The 16/17/18 pick in that draft Barzal/Connor/Chabot were in the NHL and playing big roles 2 years after being drafted. Just some food for thought for the crowd that laps up everything JR totes about draft picks being 4 years away from contributing.

This is absolutely nuts. He needs a contract extension soon as well?!? This is like OEL all over again.

Why didn’t we trade for Chychrun? I was saying this all last off season.

It became the Trevor Linden trade afterall.

Filip Hronek
Anthony Beauvillier
4th rounder

Then we traded a 2nd for Raty seperately

I love the Barzal comparison, since that is the best case scenario…

Then Petterson would be our Tavares

I'm not going to comment to much on the trade other than to say this is most definitely not the same as OEL. OEL was trending way, way down for years and came with $50+ mil in obligations. This is not that. I'm not saying it's good but this is most definitely not OEL all over again.

But basically I'm not going to comment much at this time because I think it's clear that between now and next training camp there are going to be a hell of a lot moves. It's going to be hard to judge each one on the fly and instead we may simply need to see where things lie when the dust settles. Just because of the anticipated volume of moves.

Wallstreetbets type of organization. Buy high sell low - a few months later and Hronek could be had for so much cheaper. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb

Please for the love of god just get some of these other knobs outta here. Boeser and Myers at the bare minimum.

So how is he getting 8M + as some fans are implying??

Make up your mind Canucks fans

Rmb how many whiners we got when we traded a first round pick for JTM??

Just because there’s an echo chamber here doesn’t make the analysis remotely accurate.

You want everyones opinion to line up?
There's where he can go line up:

This is what I cannot fathom. I cannot see the vision they have with this move. This is still not even close to a playoff team but they went from being pick decent to now only have the 1 pick in the first two rounds of the draft and same thing next year.

They are not going to be a playoff team next year but it feels like there's a real chance they will be trading away more picks here to keep adding filler.

The reality is most ppl dont know what the f they’re talking about.

Suddenly everyone’s an expert on someone they probably watched less than 10 times in their life.

“Fans” need to at least give Hronek a chance before crying and whining.

See JTM trade all over again.

lol I don't though. I know the Canucks are not a Hronek away from even being a playoff team, let alone winning a cup.

Even with the Miller trade... who cares? Nucks got a good price on a guy who turned out better than anyone thought. But now they haven't moved him... so you need to win in his window and that's not all that long + his price is about to go way up.

Who cares the value you get on one guy once if you are still a bottom 10 team in the league?
