The reality is most ppl dont know what the f they’re talking about.

Suddenly everyone’s an expert on someone they probably watched less than 10 times in their life.

“Fans” need to at least give Hronek a chance before crying and whining.

See JTM trade all over again.
Yes.

Your timeline is off though.. the EP,QH,TD core are not hanging around (until they are 27-28) waiting for support..Their primes are right now, and should be supported.

We've still got our 1st round pick in the draft.
I said peak not prime. There is no way they are going to cobble together a contender in the next 18 months. If they try to do so, the results will be mediocrity. Like it or not they need to take the long view to when EP QH are at their peaks.

So how is he getting 8M + as some fans are implying??

Make up your mind Canucks fans

Rmb how many whiners we got when we traded a first round pick for JTM??

Just because there’s an echo chamber here doesn’t make the analysis remotely accurate.

No he's signed for $4.4 next year.

But just imagine the Canucks do play him 22-24 mins a year and he's a 50 point guy, etc.

Team is still 20 points + out of the playoffs.

NOW he is commanding $7 mil+ as a top pairing d-man, even though... who cares? Add on the lack of other d coming (trading away more and more picks and zero d in the prospect pool) and what can you do?

This is what the Canucks notoriously do is play a player a lot, get them to max value them massively overpay.

Smart teams get players UP to top value then trade them off (see Hronek for a top 20 pick + a top 40 pick in a deep draft).

At least the Canucks are getting absolutely killed on social media.

Like the owner and executives even pay attention or care though. It's like they're intentionally alienating their fanbase or they really are morons of the highest order.

The Aqualini's bought the Canucks at the perfect place and time, we had 3 future HOF players on the team back in the fall of 2006 and this team was going places from there on out. Then after the run, we entered a decade of terrible decisions and whataboutism's from this ownership.

If the NHL can force this child abusing family to sell, I'm all for it.

Only slim chance is that the Western Conference is as weak as shit.

Players of Pettersson's caliber don't grow on trees. Basically every Cup team of the last 15 years has had a guy like him on their squads besides the Blues and I guess the Kings.

It's a lot easier to build around him than hoping to find another guy that good or knock it out of the park with 15 quality guys to make up for it.
Sure, build around him. But doing it in one or two years is a sure way to maintain a middling team. EP is all world. But one player does not a contender make. Neither does two or three. This is a four year project, like it or not.

Do you need to see the JT Miller trade play itself out again to finally understand what a futile move looks like?

I have no beef with Hronek. I separated the cost of acquisition from Beauvillier when he arrived, but he is still a player we shouldn't have targeted.

We continue to improve our goal scoring and offense, when our play in our own end is screaming for improvement.

This is the same situation, poor management choices, giving us players we don't need. This isn't two players, either. Kuzmenko is an ELC and has been a knock out, but did we really need Mikheyev? No. We needed D, specifically defensively responsible D. We don't need more puck moving or offensive D, or wingers, and that is trending as our biggest acquisitions.

We've still got our 1st round pick in the draft.

And I would not be shocked if they traded that 1st for another middle pair d-man and we watch the Canucks miss the playoffs, again, by 15-20 points next year. Let guys walk as FAs and trade the next 1st, again. Repeat.

We have been here before right? I swear we did this for years and years with the Sedins mostly a better core.

The Canucks paid a premium price for 1 year of cost certainty followed by the necessity of handing out a pricey contract extension all while being one of the worst teams in the NHL. Extremely shortsighted move. Benning was at least smart enough to buy 4 years of cost certainty when he acquired Miller.

They also get a guy that is going to play games for them.

I don't really understand what's the point of literally making up scenarios in your own head.

Allvin's management and JB's management aren't tied together at all.

From watching a highlight package from his 2nd season with the Wings, you can see even back then he had an excellent one timer. That surely is even better now. We could possibly play him on the 1st unit left side wall. He is a right shot threat that we haven't had in the time Pettersson has been here. That threat on the left side would give Petey more time to unload his wicked one timer.

I completely agree with you, except that if I had a player scoring 50 points in 22-24 minutes I would wet myself. :)

I sometimes wet myself so I use these:

Wait so you're mad that if Hronek blossoms into a top pairing dman, we have to pay him?

Stop making up scenarios in your own head. Let's act on the basis of real-life... not the made up scenarios in your head.

You are literally just in your own head.

I still wouldn't have trade for Miller, as a rebuilding team you simply don't trade your first round pick.

In a vacuum it isn't a bad thing. It's just not ideal for this team's timeline. They're going to have to pay a bunch of these players before they even set foot in the playoffs! This is why you rebuild through the draft and have your team progress towards contention with the benefit of players on ELC's. THEN you sort out the cap.
