sounds like the Nucks could be getting Kaski and it doesn't sound like we have any interest in Brazeau but I wouldn't be surprised at all if we land Schuldt. I certainly think we land at least one player from SCSU to join Poehling.

Where did you read/hear about Kaski most likely going to Canucks? I checked online if there is anything and have been unable to find it.

There was also a rumor saying that MB was interested in Ilya Mikheyev and another defenseman from the KHL. Friedman had mentioned it earlier this year in one of his 31 Thoughts columns.

Also just before the TDL, it was reported that MB was in Russia to see Romanov and scout some undrafted players from the KHL to sign as UFAs.

If it’s to go play with Laval ok if it’s for MTL no thanks.

Those are 'free' gambles, you have to take a chance, once in a while it goes right.

Kaski, Sturm, Schuldt... whoever, let's get a bunch of them and give 'em a chance.

We didn't exactly hit a homerun with Sklenicka and Moravcik but you CAN find some hidden FA gems in the KHL if you look close enough.

Definitely no home runs. But Sklenicka has been good depth for Laval. He's locked down a spot on the bottom pairing.

I don't know where he'll stand next year (he's signed for another year). Because they already have Fleury and Lamarche next year. Who knows if Alzner sticks around or not. Most likely Lernout is extended. Then there is Brook coming in. And one or both of Walford and/or Tyszka will come in.

So Sklenicka may be the odd man out and sent to ECHL and then it can go the way it went with Moravcik. Either way, it was worth going for these kinds of signings.

The other defenseman was Artyom Zub. Found the thread on the 10th page.

Brazeau was mentioned during the second intermission of the Habs's game by TSN's panel.

How are we not in on this guy?

skating would be my guess.

RD Oliwer Kaski - Pelicans, Liiga (2013 Undrafted)

He isn’t a UFA yet but what about Gusev if Vegas doesn’t sign him he will be UFA and is KHL contract is also ending. He is well over a ppg in the KHL might have a Panarin/Radulov type impact if he come to the NHL

Any day. Would love to see him here.

Would he have to sign a ELC? Because if he doesn’t our cap space give us a edge.
Stole this from the main board:
"For European players like Gusev it's the end of the year they turn 28, so in this case December 31, 2020.

What Gusev theoretically could do is to sign an ELC with Vegas after the KHL season is over, that way his first contract would expire within a reasonably short period of time and would not affect his ability to play in the KHL. He could then remain with SKA as a RFA and eventually become an NHL UFA in the summer of 2020.".

Watch him sign with Tampa

They did say that since Brazeau had so much interest, he would only accept an nhl contract.
With the amount of middle 6 depth we have, he really wouldnt have much of a chance to start in the nhl

UNB and Alberta playing tonight in the USports final, expect a few of these guys to earn NHL contracts. I can't comment on the Alberta players or frankly players of other USports teams who will be looking for NHL deals, but I've seen UNB play more than a few times.

Among them:
F Christopher Clapperton:
25 years old
5'9" 174 lbs
4th year
Just an amazingly talented forward and a real threat to shoot. Good release and accuracy on his wrister. Clapperton plays with a chip on his shoulder, always getting under the skin of his opponents. His skating is quick and deceptive, very tough to read. Though he's among the oldest players on the team as a 1994-born, I do think there could be some untapped potential there. Clapperton had a short stint in the ECHL before joining the Reds which didn't go too great but since then, he's improved leaps and bounds, becoming UNB's number one offensive threat. If I could have any player off that team it would be Clapperton. He'd be a good addition to the Rocket right off the bat, at the very least.

as well as Mark Simpson, Stephen Anderson and Kris Bennett, though Bennett and Simpson are only in their second and third years of university respectively.

Clapperton signed a PTO with Belleville and signed a 1 year deal with them for next year.

Yes we do have alot of middle 6 bottom 6 foward. But at 6'6, RH Goalscorer ill give him a try over Lehks, Byron, hudon,Weise. IF he speedy enough, effective on the forecheck and reliable enough defensively. But i never saw him play.

Your right I was under the impression that Vegas were losing he right this summer but they hold them indefinitely because he is in the KHL... So regardless he isn’t coming to the NHL unless he sign for Vegas or get traded...

Report I saw say he is not a great skater and is not physical for his size. Has great hands but doubtful it will translate if he doesn't improve in those areas.
