Huh? I think it's almost a certainty that Kleven becomes our most physical player in a couple years. You watched him just wipe players in NCAA? Not hit... wipe.
Tkachuk may have something to say about that,

Boucher, should he make it, also was wiping out guys in the NCAA,

There are no certainties when it comes to prospect development

I think Kasty has that fire, he was livid last game after Watty’s fight. Looked like we wanted to rip buddies head off.

Goat will never be that guy I don’t think, but as long as he leans on the opponents D every chance he can he’ll be helping on the physical side. In a playoff series these big guys can really wear down smaller players.
I am not convinced that Gauthier will become a player I like; at this time he seems to be too passive and not physical enough. He needs to show he can play a tougher physical game and if he does not then he may not be signed for next season.

There are two little guys that live just up the street from me & they are always on the street playing hockey which is great to see. Today as I was driving by them when one of them dropped the gloves with their dad lol & started going at it which made me laugh so hard I almost hit the snowbank. I rolled down my window to ask the other father who was playing with them why he didn't jump the other dad & be the 3rd guy in? They are going to need mom to be a ref soon if they keep this up. :thumbu::thumbu:

Thought he looked ok again in a fairly defensive minded game. Had a couple miscues with the puck on his stick but mostly played the puck well.
Was at the game and kept a pretty good eye on him.

He didn't stray too far from home and you can see he wants to focus on D more than anything.

He had a few nice moments where he used his size to pin a guy while still being able to use his stick. He didn't try to do too much with the puck but certainly seems poised.

Overall he is using his tools well. Skating to the right spot and using his reach. I think a year in the AHL to let him play heavy minutes, learn how physical he can be and gain confidence to make plays at the pro level will do wonders for him.

Too early for any predictions but he looks closer than I would have expected.

While it's possible Kleven will start next season in Belleville I also wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't stay there for the entire yr. He has the attributes that this team needs especially since Holden most likely won't return next yr & who know how Hamonic will be being another yr older. So far he hasn't hurt the team & has played a decent defensive game which is exactly what they want from him. I thought JBD played well too, did you watch him much?

That 3 on 1 short handed was all TK.

Honestly, even though he’s only played like 5 shifts there I think he fits better on the right than the left.

I’m pretty sure that was 4 lane goals in a 4-3 loss. Spot the guy one or two and we still win.

Just a rough goaltending situation…. Miss Forsy big time.

His ability to close gaps is really impressive. Even when a guy gets a step on him he can use his reach to break up the play. I can't believe how good he has looked tbh.
He's stepping in quite well. I'd rather him than Holden in the lineup, not that I'm really setting a high bar there, but he's going to be right their competing for that 6th D spot next year.

Cant believe how far this defence has come… only spot to compete for next year is 6/7 between Hamonic / JBD / Thomson / Guennete / Kleven

Tyler Kleven, who the Twitter fanboys established as a DND, is at PPG as an NHL defenseman.

If Zdeno Chara f***ed Paul Coffey, but they aborted the baby, and then Zdeno Chara cheated on Coffey and f***ed Brian Leetch, Tyler Kleven would be the baby.

Norris trophy winners need to keep it on their pants

One thing that annoys me with them and other public lists is they’ll take a perfectly fine prospect and say do not draft. Maybe it’s to generate discussion. But then I realize everyone else In the group or the chat or whatever just agrees. And I’m like. A dude can’t be that bad
You aren't getting put on a No Draft list because you're not good enough, which is what they seemed to be doing. If a team doesn't think you are good enough, you just won't be ranked by them. Burke didn't want to draft him based on what he perceived as his skill, or lack thereof. Looks even dumber now than it did back then, and it looked incredibly, incredibly dumb then.

You get put on a No Draft list when your more than good enough to be drafted, but a team has questions about their character, attitude, background, commitment, interviews, etc. Under no circumstances do we want this player in the organization.

No team was putting Kleven on a No Draft list, at worst they would have had him ranked lower than most or not ranked.

No Draft lists are for guys like DeAngelo, Yakupov (after his Combine interviews) Miller, Mailloux, etc.

Guys that are deemed not good enough to be drafted by teams are just not ranked, they aren't given a Do Not Draft no matter what designation.

I like his game last night. Don’t think the jackets particularly pressured us tho. But he did some good things with the puck on the breakout and also one play he made coming over the opponents blue line was nice

I’ve seen enough already to know he will be a regular in our lineup. Only question is it at the start of next season, mid season or to begin 2024/25.

We will be well stocked on the left side for sure so the question really is how comfortable with the players/team be with some of our LD playing the right side.

Conceivably, the back-end could look like this:

Sanderson - Zub
Chabot - Chychrun
Kleven - Branny

I would expect, with waivers and contracts taken into account we have (at least):

JBD / Hamonic (or another vet RD) to consider being on the squad too and not sure we carry 8 D. I think Kleven starts in Belleville due to contracts/waiver concerns and gets games in here and there. He may well end up being a regular before the season is over but I prefer him in the A for a stretch to really round out his game.

I liked JBD. He played pretty well, made good decisions and generally wasn't that noticeable which seems to be his MO. If he can be the steady, quiet guy on RD I would be happy with that.

I hope we get to see Thomson and Guenette soon too so we can see how they are developing.

Unless someone gets hurt don’t think they’re getting a look here. Do or die in this organization for thomson in next years camp.

I would really like Max to get a look and a taste of the big league as a reward and incentive to keep working.

He has quietly been (perhaps) the Senators most improved and consistent D. I am going mostly by writeups and a handful of games watched but nice to see.

I read this and googled, turns out in 2018-2019 after Greening retires from hockey he enrolled at Harvard for an MBA.

He’s also a member of the Cornell ‘Quill and Dagger’ society.

Gtfo.
It was at Cornell

"Greening is a rare bird in the NHL. He has a degree in applied economics and management from Cornell University, where he was the hockey team's point-a-game captain and graduated with a 3.99 grade-point average."

Ivy league is pretty elite
