Exactly the type of guy you want to come in on the bottom pair.

He'll be a Methot type guy in his prime.

The Elite Prospects guys really knocked it out of the park with the Sens guys.

Listening to those dummies try and explain their reasoning was unbelievably painful.

Not a single hockey player among them

J.D Burke - "I have Tyler Kleven as a DND (Do Not Draft) prospect for 2020, and even I would be the first to tell you skating wasn’t really the issue there."

"worst pick in the draft, has the worst passing % player to player on the entire NTDP squad, including the goaltenders"

"would not waste a draft pick at any point in the entire draft. DND and move on"

This bozo is the head of "Scouting" for eliteprospects. Wouldn't trust him to pick a bantam b team.

Would love to hear him try and talk in a box or the stands with actual scouts during a game

I thought he'd be more aggressive. First game so can't take much from it. He made a few mistakes but also had a nice stick on some plays. Would like to see him develop in Bsens

Thought he was perfectly calm. I was expecting him to be more aggressive, actually, which is what rookies do with all the adrenaline. He looked like a guy with 200+ games experience in multiple shifts.

There were multiple games were I saw Kleven as the bigger standout to Sanderson. Should tell you all you need to know of what I think of him. He could be the x-factor on our defense.

Most impressive thing to me was his confidence moving the puck and shooting it on net.
For a first game, I was a bit surprised how much he tried to get involved offensively, it almost cost him on that early shift where both he and Holden pinched with nobody covering and the had a breakaway hitting the post twice

He settled things down after that, but he did lead the team with 4 giveaways, he'll need to clean that up if he wants to stick with the big club next year.

Hopefully he keeps up the progress. Looked good. Brian Lee looked really good in his first game as a Sen, it was probably the best game he ever played in the NHL.

Once NHLers figure out TK43 weakness (and they will very very quickly) we’ll see how he handles the NHL.

Be a nice run of games for him with these injuries

He looked good. It will be interesting how he plays for the rest of the year. He'll have an opportunity now since all the injuries.

One thing that annoys me with them and other public lists is they’ll take a perfectly fine prospect and say do not draft. Maybe it’s to generate discussion. But then I realize everyone else In the group or the chat or whatever just agrees. And I’m like. A dude can’t be that bad

I mean Honeslty how much pressure did he have to deal with he essentially had to play no defence last night. I’m really stoked he had a strong first game but, the context of the game…. The flyers legitimately did nothing I haven’t seen such a lifeless hockey performance in such a long time (they were hitting and that is legit it )

He had a few chances in the third along the boards and you could see he did it want to take a penalty.

This case it’s because there is zero projection or understanding of Hockey ability.

It’s he and his cohorts regurgitating descriptive words to sound like they have an understanding of the game.

Lots of stuff is great, the data that these guys and guys like Scouching can pull is unbelievable. But if you get these guys watching a random OHL game without a list of people that they need to watch, they wouldn’t know what to do with themselves.

Good snapshot into Kleven's game last night I thought. He looked mobile out there and kept things simple for the most part.

He struggled a couple of times under pressure and made poor plays with the puck but nothing egregious.

I'm not as high on this prospect as most are but I think he'll be an NHL regular in a couple of years at least. Nice debut for the kid. Looked like he was having fun out there.

Big guy who is mobile, makes quick decisions, blocks shots, can hit like a truck & has a very hard NHL shot. I think he only gets better from here, all of the essentials are there, but the one think we will eventually see is him needing to defend himself in the NHL after a big hit which at some point will happen. He is exactly what they have needed a little more of on D & at a younger age.

Chabot, Sanderson, Chychrun, Kleven (at some point) & Zub could be argued is a decent group of defencemen. Everyone else will be fighting for one spot plus a 7th. Holden will be gone at yr's end, Hamonic could get another yr or two & who knows what will happen with Brannstrom, JBD & Thomson, but they now have a few more assets, depth & options on D. I think Brannstrom & Thomson eventually get dealt to upgrade another position, maybe one at this yr's draft.

My Future D:
Chabot - Zub
Sanderson - Chychrun
Kleven - JBD/Guennette

crazy how well he moves for a guy so big.

might be one of the most physically impressive players weve had since fisher or something. and he's only a rookie. :0

Do you prefer "scouts" with bullet-proof assessments like "Solid player, tries hard, projects between 1st pairing and beer leaugue"?

We heard ice water in veins wrt all our UND d-men, K-Train played calm and absorbed physicality from opposing forwards only to get better as the game progressed in his debut. He is an NHL d-man, the question is how much better can he get? Guaranteed bottom pairing d-man, potentially can contribute as a top-4 D in his prime.
