Didnt Friedman say he would make his decision by the end of the day today or something?

On Saturday night he said we should hear in the next 24-48 hours, so that would take us to this evening. But I am a little skeptical of Friedman on this one (including this concern about signing). Garrioch said Dorion wasn't even going to reach out to the agent until early this week, and Pinto said that the team gave him a similar cooling down period before he signed out of school.

Ya they all said they like to give the player a Bit of time, after being eliminated, in OT this time.

Not sure how much that matters in this case. If this is a genuine concern then it would be coming from the player/agent side so the Senators having not initiated talks isn't all that relevant.

I thought it was interesting that Friedman brought it up on Saturday. I'm not sure the average HNIC viewer even knows who Tyler Kleven is, so I just wonder if he knows more than he's letting on.

Hopefully it's nothing, but I don't have a good feeling about this one.

He could know something, but the fact that he didn't seem to understand the timeline gives me some comfort.

Omg is it too early to start freaking out about Kleven not being signed?

It's bizarre how attitudes have changed on Kleven, I remember how few were really happy we drafted him, the more common reaction was complaints that we should have drafted some other guy.

Now people are worried he'll walk himself to UFA by playing another year in college and viewing him as an untouchable piece in the system...

I've liked him from before we drafted him, but people are overhyping him imo. He's not a bluechip prospect, he's likely going to take time in Belleville before he's ready, and ev n then he's more likely a bottom pair guy long term than ever being a top 4 guy, and there's nothing wrong with that, every team needs a bit of sandpaper on the bottom pair

I think it’s ok when fans get excited and hyped about their prospects.

Kleven has been a tantalizing prospect since draft, and we’re finally at a place to see him play.

Thats exciting. Some fans get excited and act excited. It’s a good thing in my opinion.

His pro development ark will go as it goes, hedging ones bets rather than pushing the chips in, isn’t any better of an approach.

I don't mind people being excited about Kleven, I think he'll be a fan favourite with his style of play, but worrying about him not signing and walking as a UFA seems a bit much to me.

Lol, yeah that’s a yearly rite of passage it seems. We have our share of Nervous Nelly’s for sure.

If anything you are way too late.

Most reasonable people had mild freak-out symptoms the moment we drafted a player going to college.

Didnt the other three UND guys take a while as well
It essentially always takes a while.

There is nothing surprising about him being unsigned yet.

The only thing that would/should cause concern, is if his side has mentioned that they don't like the amount of guys ahead of him, which we've heard nothing other than Friedman speak on that possibility.

If that's the case, there's concern.

If it's a case of "why isn't he signed yet", there should be no concern
