Wife and I saw Poor Things. Really good. Emma Stone is excellent
I liked it too, probably #3 or #4 for me for Jorgos movies behind The Lobster and The Favorite, maybe Killing of a Sacred Deer also. Agree Emma was great, thought Christopher Abbott put in a low key gem of a performance too.

Any Pete Davidson's fans? The king of Staten Island was pretty good and recently I started watching his new series on Peacock based on his current life (on Staten Island again). It's reasonably good with IMO outstanding cast that includes Joe Pesci, Edi Falco, Bobby Cannavale, Brett Garrett etc
I can't stand him or his, ahem, 'comedy'. It says a lot more about SNL that they let him on as a cast member than it does about Davidson's 'talent'.

I tried watching 'King of Staten Island' but shut it off after I think 5 minutes.

I think I might be the only person in the world who didn't/doesn't like SNL. As for Davidson, every time I see him or a picture, my first question is "what's all the fuss about?"

The fuss stems from three things:

1) His tattoos;
2) His dalliances with a couple of well known female pop culture icons;
3) His continuous repeated attempts to rehab and 'get clean', followed by precipitous falls off the wagon. We do love ourselves a train wreck in this country.

Anywho in the spirit of the thread I started watching 'The Bothers Sun' on Neflix. First episode was really good. And after finishing up 'Slow Horses' I can say that it has to be one of the five best series presently on television. The writing and acting is impeccable.

Slow Horses is "da bomb"!!!!!!

Re Davidson -- 10 years ago, those things would have had you banned or destroyed your career.....sheesh.

I can assure you that this 50-yo doesn’t care about his tattoos (I have none), nor his love life, nor his trips to rehab (though re. the last one I some compassion for this aspect of his life as well as some others). I do appreciate his humor expressed in various ways. I did mention the supporting cast for a reason - each and every one of those I listed I respect as actors and their involvement indicates to me a quality of this project. But we can’t argue a taste so to each his own.

Society of Snow was good, if a little slow and I already knew the outcome.

Leave The World Behind was okay. I liked the premise but the execution left things to be desired. I also think it’s mostly predictive programming courtesy of our overlords.

I want to watch the new season of True Detective. Consistently hearing it’s the best since S1.
The first show of TD was pretty good . I'll watch the 2nd one tonight . We are also watching Banshee.......I'm glad I stayed with it . We are on episode 5 ......and he has been a busy guy after hours LOL....he certainly has a type ! Lots of action in it .

'Banshee' was AWESOME.

Episode two of TD picked up tremendously. It was very very good.

Getting tickets for The Two Towers Live with Howard Shore conducting the orchestra. Radio City Feb 14-17th. Going to be epic!

Would love for Hans Zimmer to do a North American tour again.

The beach scene was bonkers. But I think J-Law is a good actor with a good range from raunchy to serious and I like most of the movies that she's in.

I liked it and the Bob Segar song at the end was fitting. Reminded me of some 1980s light movies.
