Echo the sentiments on Dan Robertson, he`s top notch. Believe he has been looking for something else for awhile. He mentioned last year that he had applied for a position with Seattle. Will definitely be interesting to hear his replacement.
I don’t know how interesting it’s going to be if Campbell manages to weasel his way into the gig.

I wasn't really paying much attention at the time but I thought I heard Campbell say yesterday when one of the callers said that Robertson would be hard to replace and Campbell said that he wouldn't want to be that guy. The caller then said that he hoped Campbell would get the gig to replace Robertson and I'm pretty sure Campbell said that it wouldn't be him.

However listening to the segment again on the TSN690 website after, to confirm that I had indeed heard him say that, it seems he actually didn't say the "it won't be him" part since it wasn't in the clip when I listened again after.

Although I'm still convinced that he did say it even if I wasn't paying much attention to him at the time but maybe it was edited out before posting to the 690 website after. It's also quite possible that I'm just getting old and losing my mind and have no idea what I'm talking about. :DD

“I heard Campbell say” always has me scrambling for the exits. :sarcasm:

Turned on 690 this morning but there was no Weekend Game Plan.....funny that.
Can’t believe that the Matthew Ross incident made the national news, as was already posted upstream.

Not quite a box factory but not that far off either. Game Plan now calls for Ross to call in a favor, to land a part time sales job at Royal Ceramics.

And so it begins …

Customer: Matthew, what do you think of these oversized tiles for my kitchen?

Ross: They are kind of obese and embarrassing.

Customer: What should I do, then?

Ross: I’d recommend going for a sleeker look, try these from the Athletic Pro Line brand. They are much more pleasing to the eye.

:sarcasm:

I guess like me you don't find car wrecks on the highway interesting.
I always find it more interesting when a guy that cuts me off ends up in an incident — going beyond the figurative meaning of your post.

Like the time this SUV driver made a dangerous move to get ahead of me during icy conditions. Once ahead, a bus attempting to turn in front of him ends up hitting his SUV with its oversized, extended driver side rear view mirror.

He then slips out of his SUV, furious and gets into a heated argument with the bus driver. Looked to me that the bus driver was at least equally responsible if not more.

When the SUV driver wasn’t winning his argument with the bus driver, he motioned to me to confirm what happened.

Of course, I gladly let him know that I didn’t see anything and drove past.

Maybe it is a given, don`t know. Would think the chance to call Habs games would draw interest from some who have experience. They did find Bartlett and Robertson outside the market.

Bartlett and Robertson were hired before Bell fired a ton of its broadcast employees and shut down sports programming in several markets. TSN690’s business model has been to promote internally to keep costs down.

Come on, let’s not forget Gallo can call games too.
Every intern turned broadcaster on 690 is a natural PxP guy, didn’t you know?

This is a good story. I approve. No deaths involved, just some light damage to a deserving ahole's car.

Exactly. I never want to see anyone get hurt, there is no satisfaction in that. But, a small comeuppance concomitant with displayed assholishness, well no harm in not stepping up to help out someone who behaves in that manner.

Hi! How are You? To replace Mr Robertson, How about Denis Casavant, He is completely Bilingual, and He did in the past some Hockey play by play, I do not know though if the decision is taken by TSN 690 or the Montreal Canadiens, Mr Casavant has a lot of experiences in the media and very solid, and He knows hockey, but He is known to be a Baseball guy with Rodger Brulotte. Anyway, it is just a suggestion. I do not know if They will go the Women route though, I do not think of any Female that can do the job in Montreal. Do not know if the Lady that went to New Jersey to cover the Devils, would be interested to come back, I prefer a man though, it is nicer and more authoritative. Thanks for reading and take care and God Speed.

When you’re good, those in the business know all to well.

Here’s Mapper giving Dan Robertson his due. I can’t stand Spanre, but Mapper sure makes up for some of their garbage:

Today is the start of JiC's TVA Sports season. So it's the start of when he pulls double duty (Radio in the AM. TV in the PM). It will also be the start of Marinaro's tv spot on his show.

Mapper is great. Takes his job seriously, but doesn't take himself seriously.
That’s what I also loved about Gonzo— so humble but so articulate and puts the work in.

Difference with Mapper is that he throws out some outrageous comments, I love that he has no filter.

Mapper also has a pleasant demeanour, which contributes to making him endearing on TV. We criticize a lot of people who do their jobs poorly but here’s a guy who makes sports informative and entertaining — we need more of them.

I think Matthew Ross can be given the benefit of the doubt on this one. It was a terrible take and he's certainly taken the heat for it but the apology is well written and seems sincere. Not sure why people want to keep piling on by questioning his sincerity considering I'm sure most had no idea who he was prior to this incident.

Twitter is a cesspool, tough crowd over there.

What in the world is going on with JiC’s show?
