Player Discussion Troy Terry

Terrys emergence makes me not quite as concerned about drafting another highly touted forward prospect. I previously thought we needed one more but I’m not quite as convinced of that as i once was.

With him, Zegs and Mctavish that might be enough firepower up front. Will obviously have to supplement them with other guys that can reliably score

We do have Perreault, Tracey, and Pastujov in the pipeline.

I'm so relieved that Terry is fulfilling his potential! He had me giddy with his WJC performance while being nicknamed "Mr. 5-hole" and his goal scoring in the AHL. I started getting scared b/c he seemed to follow a previous highly touted prospect in Peter Holland who also looked great in the AHL, but couldn't translate it to the NHL level.

The 2016-17 season was a season I got so hyped about for forward prospects b/c Terry went off in the WJC and Steel had 131 points (50g + 81a) in 66 games.

Way to make up for that OT giveaway the other night. :sarcasm:

Now pacing 49.2 goals over a full season. Imagine scoring 50 goals earning "just" 1.45M.

Troy Terry voted in by fans, Mr. All Star Troy Terry
Yung All-Star Scary Terry (Hilarious that Aly had this picture under her clipboard last game and didn't even mention why it was there)

Well deserved. No question he should have been a selection to begin with.
Gibson was such an Odd choice to me, not that he hasnt been good, but Terry was the obvious choice from anaheim.

Sucks zegras isnt in it, cause he would be the most entertainment value at the game... hell mic him up the whole weekend.

I'll go a step further and say that Terry was more deserving than Stone. I get they like going for multiple reps for the host team but as a fan of both Anaheim and Vegas, seeing Stone on the roster with Terry on the last man in ballot struck me as unfair.

And yeah, Zegras would be awesome at the ASG. Maybe next year.

I feel like any player that has played in X number of ASG (like 3 or 5 games) should be able to decline the invitation. The game means more to guys like Terry and Zegras than guys like Crosby (I know, not competing for the same spot). Have young guys that are having good seasons and would be entertaining in the game. Honor the guys that are the best, let the guys who are young have fun and entertain the crowds. Or at least add a game for the kids (didn't the NBA do the Rising Stars competition for a while?). I can almost guarantee you Zegras would be more entertaining than at least 90% of the guys, going 100% if you mic him up.

Edit: Congrats to Terry, though. He definitely deserved to be the Ducks rep. He also fills that young and entertaining mold. In a game where there's really no hitting to worry about, he should have some space to try to create chances.

This is why the NHL used to have a young players game as part of All Star weekend.

Have you looked around the league, Zegras is more entertaining than 99% of the doorknob personalities in the NHL

The league is probably desperate to sell tickets. Still lots available but pretty expensive. Cheapest seats are pushing $300 each.

I think that was the biggest factor in some of the picks like Stone over Stephenson or Marchessault even.

Yeah true.

End of the day this is very much a meme event. But it's still cool that Terry gets the accolade of being an NHL All Star.

I would have driven out for the All Star game and festivities but I forgot we bought NASCAR tickets at the LA Coliseum. Major fail on my part. Would have rather gone out to Vegas.

Yup, just based on skill/play style he's probably more entertaining than at least 90% of players. If you add in personality (mic'd up), he's more entertaining than probably 100% of players. Sorry if I didn't say that properly the first time haha.

The league should hope zegras becomes a superstar…. He’ll reach a different audience that the league has never tapped into

Am I the only one that absolutely watches the skills comp every year? I wonder what event Terry will be doing.
Don't necessarily watch every year, but the skills competition is always 10x more entertaining than the actual game. I find nothing interesting in watching a bunch of NHL players play at a beer league pace.

The skills comp is definitely far better than the joke that is no contact, low effort 3on3.

Guessing he'll be doing the passing part of the relay challenge and then the breakaway challenge. Although I have heard they might be trying a couple new events this year.

You can tell he's so humbled.

It seems like they try new things every year and they never wind up being any good.
