Player Discussion Troy Terry

Putting on Weight/Strength was the key i think. Looks like it gave him the confidence to be more aggressive, then with Getz telling him to attack the net was the cherry on top. I was hoping he was going to be a 20 goal, 40 assist guy annually, now I am thinking he is going to be a 40 goal, 30 assist guy. More like a Perry rather than Getz.

I think he will be the future Captain.

He has 50 goal hands for sure. Not easy to do but the talent seems there.

I think there have only been 10 40+ goal seasons in Ducks history - 11 if you count the year Teemu was traded from the Jets. So I'm innately skeptical of this happening in general and especially so of Terry, just because he was never presented or conceived of that way.

He's close to a 50 goal pace this season. It would be incredible if he can keep that up, but the pessimist in me says he'll finish in the 35-40 range. If Getz is out for any extended period of time you can absolutely say goodbye to 50.

I don’t know, if he can get playing time with Z during a stretch Getzlaf is gone I think his numbers will go up even more. Terry has the hands to actually finish the crazy plays Z does.

Yeah, that crossed my mind. I just don't know that Eakins would put them back together. Let's just hope Getz stays healthy so we don't have to think about that.

Yeah gotta keep these guys on different lines and get them ideal line-mates. It’s all about depth in this league, not one scoring line. Look at teams like Boston and Edmonton which lack depth.

I always had faith in Terry as a player but I never thought he’d be a big goal scorer. Always thought he’d be a solid playmaking W - he’s still a great passer.

But goal scoring is not a skill you often see vastly improve/develop at his age.

So its a Wild Bill 2017-18 type season for him ? Wild Bill had a 23% shooting when he scored 43 goals that year.
Obviously Terry is much more talented than Wild Bill but i think next season Terry putting up 25Goals + 45 Assists seems realistic.

Dare I say he is becoming Mark Stone-ish. So crafty with his skating and stick, just awesome awareness at all times. Both are super good with stick on defense as well (stick and poke checks)

That 2nd goal might’ve been the nicest of his career. The breakaway one against Minny last year was cool too

I don’t think he’s THAT fast, but he has the ability to stick handle at top speed like Jagr and McDavid, and he’s got great acceleration which allows him to make a move then blow by someone. He’s also finally big enough to not get knocked down with any minor contact while doing so.

I agree a good comparison for him is tough to come by, but I'm somewhat thinking he is coming along as a Marcel Dionne type of player.
 
His closest PLAY STYLE comparable right now is actually Alex Newhook believe it or not lol they play so similar it's crazy. They both have crafty/quick hands and are so good with deception and changing shooting angles/backhand.

Also wanted to say out of any player the Ducks have ever had you can tell Terry is the one that learned the most from Getzlaf and applied it to his game. That's exactly why he speaks so highly of him, love the interview when Getzlaf got the point record for the Ducks you could just tell he was so happy for him and looks at him like a role model.
