First of all, I live in Winnipeg. It blows. I don't blame the guy one bit for wanting to leave.

Second, he's a third pairing guy with potential. [mod]

Go ahead and sit on the asset for a year waiting for a mammoth return. It'll just mean you get less in the end.

If its about playing the right side, I wonder if trading Tyler Myers instead would be an option. If it were truly not about the city or team, then I would think guaranteeing Trouba a shot on the 2nd pair behind Byfuglien (and the chance to be #1 in a few years once Buff starts to decline) would be enough to convince him to re-sign and stay. Assuming of course that Winnipeg wants to pay him whatever he is asking for.

I'd be willing to take on Myers if that is a possibility.

Sekera/Davidson-Myers

Wouldn't even consider making an offer here though, I have no idea what Myers would be worth right now.

Del Zotto
Provorov

Del Zotto can be part of a deal but Provorov is off limits - his upside is superior to Trouba, and I love Trouba. Sanheim as a centerpiece though, is more fair for both sides.

I think Streit and Sanheim for Trouba makes a ton of sense.

Streit offers a LH shot and veteran leadership. He was also a captain before. He's on the last year of his deal so the Jets are not committed to long-term financial hook. This will give the Jets another year to watch Sanheim dominate and prepare for a big role in the NHL. When Sanheim arrives (next year in full), his contract will be very friendly for the Jets for a while. Also, if the Jets are out of the playoff picture, they can deal Streit at the deadline for a decent return from a team who needs a vet D for a Cup run.

The Flyers get a stud RHD to go with Ghost and Provorov.

Davidson would be a start.

Perfect guy for the Leafs to acquire, big young RHD are hard to get and hes the best one available.

Future partner for Rielly even tho Trouba is overrated by WPG fans

I'm thinking Columbus for a 1st rounder, Murray & Hartnell (salary dump so they can afford Trouba).
Have fun playing for Torts Jacob.

Don't be absurd. That's a severe overpayment with three assets that aren't going anywhere anytime soon (Murray will not be moved under any circumstances, we have no desire to move the 1st, and Hartnell has no desire to be moved), and Overhardt isn't exactly on Kekalainen's and/or Davidson's Christmas card lists. (EDIT: He's not totally persona non grata around here - Dubinsky's an Overhardt client as well and we're keeping him - but two of his clients have been shipped out so we haven't exactly been eager to do business.)

If we get involved in any Trouba shenanigans, it's likely going to involve Jack Johnson (which, even tho he is a top-4 LHD, I suspect that won't make Jets fans too happy because of his reputation), and there'd probably be a three-way arrangement with some other team to take Trouba or Savard for a center of some kind.

If this is the sort of return the Jets are expecting, Trouba might as well sign a KHL contract tomorrow morning.

You would be lucky if Columbus offered Murray straight up.

I don't see a Columbus/Winnipeg deal at all. They were stingy with paying Johansen and the Jackets have a young core of Jones, Murray, Werenski... and I don't see them breaking them up.

It could make sense if we're looking at seeing if we can flip a #2RHD (either Trouba or Savard) for a better center, and if we can pull off acquiring him using JJ as the centerpiece (since he's expendable). But that would require a lot of things to be bending in our favor.

Frankly at this point I think he gets signed at the last minute (much like Johansen did) and either he or Myers gets moved sometime later on.

Nah I don't think it's his reputation that's the problem.

I'm not sure. This seems to be about role and NOT money at all. If Trouba signs in Winnipeg, nothing changes with his role, unless Myers is traded asap.

This is a big year for the Jets to possibly take the next step... Laine, Connor are coming and Ehlers just got his feet wet. Buff has a new deal and the club has a new captain in Wheeler.

I think the Jets would prefer to not have the "Trouba distraction" lingering IF a legit hockey deal presents itself. But we know this for sure... the Jets are not giving Trouba away for peanuts.

Yes, yes, we get it, you hate him with a passion and think he's the worst thing that ever happened to hockey. Move on already.

...or unless Myers, as part of recovering from that surgery, starts on the third pairing.

After the crap Overhardt pulled with Ryan Johansen? Not a chance.
Besides Hartnell coming out and saying he will not waive his NMC and will retire a BJ

Lets not go there. The Oilers already have Klefbom who can't seem to stay healthy for some reason or another but every training camp has never felt better :shakehead

I really can't see any GM paying the price for JJ. I'm sure the WCH didn't :help:

The worst thing? Nah just a really crappy dman that you seem to be overrating. But congrats you can keep him for another lottery finish this year. Enjoy.
