It's an "absurd assumption" saying that Trouba isn't a top pairing D?

I met your request and provided 5 statistics that had Trouba as a top pairing Dman or better, can you take your own advice now and provide some that indicates that he's not a top pairing guy? or do you always just call out other people for not providing numbers and then ignore them when they provide the numbers and prove you wrong?

This should be entertaining.

You realize that Kane did exactly what I stated right?

Kane wanted out, signed a long term deal and was later traded. I stated its a possibility, not a guarantee. Will it happen? No clue

and this is the reason why trouba will never sign in Winnipeg, maybe 1 year. is because chevy dragged his heels for years to trade kane and even when he did it was because the room revolted against kane not because chevy got a trade done. who knows if he had traded kane in a reasonable amount of time maybe trouba would have signed and asked for a trade and kept it quit.

Well, it seems to be widely accepted that Bogo asked for a trade and was subsequently traded. You have to consider that he is just a very selfish and immature kid. He wants what he wants and he wants it
NOW.

I can totally relate to that, But bottom line if Trouba agrees to a 5-6 year deal it will be as a sign and trade kind of deal. Not a deal to play for 3-4 years in Winnipeg and then might get traded at Chevy's convenience down the road. I just don't see that being a possibility.

Agreed

In the summer more teams will be able to make offers due to the cap...so I think any loss in value will be made up by more interest and the price will rise again...I dont see many top 4 22 year old RHD being on the trading block just before the draft.....So if your a GM in MERICA and you want to add that to your team only one number to call 204-555-CHEVY ;)

All this talk about a drastic reduction in value is plain silly......IMO

His value will drop hard on Dec 2nd.....Then by May it will be almost right where it was in September

Agreed

Don't know just saw that Overhardt said that there's a contingency plan if Trouba isn't resigned by Dec 1st. Not sure what kind of plan it would be any ways it sound like Trouba's days playing in Winnipeg are over. So does Chevy just do nothing and let Trouba sit out more and hope that Trouba caves in first. Because it sounds like Trouba is willing to set it out for the long haul here if need be.

The long haul in this case is four more years. I hope he enjoys his new career. In the Jets case, they now have 5.5 million dollars they didn't have yesterday..

2. J.T. Miller (23 years old), Kevin Hayes (24) and Brady Skjei (22) are playing at a high enough level that the Jets would be foolish not to seriously consider accepting either Miller or Hayes and Skjei in exchange for recalcitrant, unsigned right-side defenseman Jacob Trouba.

But you know what? That has become too high of a price for the Rangers to pay. The Blueshirts come with speed and skill three lines deep (with talent abundant on the fourth line as well). Trading either Hayes or Miller would imperil the Blueshirts’ depth.

And before trading Skjei, who has recovered from a disappointing camp to assert himself at both ends of the rink and on the point on the second power-play unit, it would be wise for Alain Vigneault to get a long look at the left-handed rookie on his off side. Maybe the Rangers already own the solution (short- and long-term) to their problem on the right.

Hard to argue against any of that. If Gorton ever made any firm offers, Chevy might really come to regret not jumping on them.

nope...I don't think he will come to regret anything, and guess what HF arm chair GM's the majority of Jets fans are 100% behind the Team and their course of action, we aren't afraid of the consequences. Want to know why? Because it sends a message for the future that we won't be bullied into making decisions we don't want to make. If the price is Trouba sitting out till he hits 27 so be it, the team isn't winning the cup anytime soon and I want any player in the future who considers the same strong arm tactics to know our resolve and stance on the matter. If affirming that message costs us a player whom doesn't want to be here anyway....have at it!!

Nobody knows that for sure. It comes across as arrogant and brings more backlash to the Jets fan base.

I think when this is all said & done, there's going to be only one person around here that's going to look stupid, and it won't be one of the GMs. So prepare to eat CROW, because its inevitable that the Jets will get a good return or resign him (eventually). We're prepared to wait it out; I don't know why you should care enough to post 20 posts a day trying to prove you're right.

You've been trying to make a case for days how his value is dropping dropping dropping without an ounce of support. A couple other posters with similar questionable knowledge on the matter (and nothing to support their argument) seem to think the same thing.

In case you haven't noticed, there are a ton of posters from other teams that disagree with your assessment. All I hear you say its a Wpg thing & that we're essentially clued out and that our GM is unreasonable. Not so, if you'd pay attention to a few of the responses, you'd see that there is widespread support from many fan bases for the job Chevy has done with this.

Anyway, carry on. A big black bird will be waiting for you on your plate when this is all said & done.

Lol make fun of me for posting the same thing over and over yet you clearly don't even understand what I'm saying.

I never said his value is dropping now. The entire time I've said again and again that they need to move him before Dec 1. Read what I actually wrote. If they move him before then or resign him I'll have no crow to eat at all because that has nothing to do with the point I've been making repeatedly.

Many other people have said that a player sitting out a year is a good idea that won't diminish value? I haven't them them, feel free to share if they're there. If absolutely nothing else, he's a year older, which will lower his value.

Many of the posts I've made are in response to jets fans quoting me and asking questions or mocking my points. Then people get on me for posting so much. Can't win.

Im not sure how that statement can be misconstrued as arrogant. Backlash from the HF fanbase is the least of my concerns. I for one think the statement is dead on.

I know Jets fans say they're fine waiting it out on Trouba but it's in Chevy's best interest to get something done here in the next month imo. The longer he waits Trouba's value drops a little. He is a very good young D but sitting out an entire year is real bad for a young players development. If it takes until the summer it's not unreasonable for potential trading partners to be a little concerned about exactly what they're getting. By the time training camp rolls around next year it would be almost a year and half since he's played a game. And considering Trouba wants a nice chunk of change and the Jets are asking for a high end piece in return I can see some teams having doubt at that point.

He played at the World Cup so your timeline is a bit off.
RHD are in huge demand so teams that need him will be willing to pay what they need to. Obviously not playing is not ideal but there are so many other factors to consider (other teams needs, assets etc...)

The way Overhardt sounded like Trouba's days in Winnipeg are over, And he wont be back so unless that 5-6 year deal is a sign and trade i seriously doubt Trouba commits to it. I don't see Trouba signing a deal with Winnipeg of long term length only to be traded at Cheveldayoff's convenience just don't see it happening.

I wouldn't put much stock in anything Overhardt says. Everything he does is to manipulate the negotiation. If Trouba signed and waited to be traded and the Jets took longer than expected he could always hold out again before the next season.

And for the same reasons, why would Trouba sign for more than that if there's no guarantee that he'll be moved immediately? Signing a 4+ year deal could just as easily ensure that he's stuck there for half a decade. How long did it take Kane to get traded? Why go through that?

He could hold out again if the Jets don't get a deal done before the next season. Signing the long term deal gives the new team way more certainty. No team wants to deal with Overhardt so a bridge deal means negotiating a new contract. A signed long term deal puts that way off in the distance.

"They've set the bar very high on a trade, like unless you are willing to deal another tremendous young d-man, they're not making this trade, and I think they are saying "Jacob, if you want to play in the NHL this year, you are going to play with us". - Elliotte Friedman

Well done Chipman/Chevy, don't give in. Each NHL team should thank us for taking a stand, especially small market or budget teams.

More like just plain wrong, but don't let that stop you.

Great argument. But usually if someone is going to post something as absurd as that they're at least willing to back it up rather than just "some stats".
Rather than "just some stats"? I'm not sure you get the concept of "backing something up". Data AKA stats is the essential element that separates backing up your argument from just making assertions. You do realize that your assertions are worth no more than anyone else and worth much much less than actual data?

I know i am in the minority as a jet fan. But i dont want someone on the team that doesn't want to be on the team taking a job away from someone else that wants to be there. If he wants to take back the trade request ok but if not they shouldn't give him a job. Why should he take morrisseys job. A very likely outcome.

Then where did the 6 years at 5.5 come from? Someone is talking.

McKenzie said the Jets were willing to make that offer, but as far as anyone knows Trouba's agent is still refusing to listen to any offers whatsoever.
