I figured there was slim to no chance of Trouba being traded, but I was hopeful that Boston might be able to get Myers from Winnipeg instead this off-season. Not sure at what cost though.

Trouba is a better player.

I'm not sure about that. Trouba has looked inconsistent and hasn't progressed the way I thought he would after his rookie season. I've watched him carefully because I've picked him up the past two years in fantasy and been supremely disappointed with him. I still think he will be a stud, but I think he's riding high on what a lot of people saw his rookie year. Everyone thought "wow, if he's already this good as a rookie, he's going to be even better in a couple years." But he hasn't really gotten that much better.

There are plenty of young players without contract right now. It's a natural consequence of young players expecting big long term deals after their ELC and teams rather keeping term and/or cap hit down.

I wouldn't expect a trade but I could see the parties kicking the can in front of them with a bigger bridge deal. Perhaps a two year deal at $4-4.5M/year.

I think something will get done before the World Cup. The timing helps the Jets because Trouba would be foolhardy to play for TNA without having a deal done.

If the jets can't reach a deal, I don't see why they wouldn't have interest in Nurse+ for trouba? A young, big LHD that can fit in their top 4 down the road. It's not like the jets are real contenders this year anyways

Nurse+top 5 protected 1st seems fair, if not a slight overpayment

Unless the plus in the above deal is Draisaitl or something huge, then no chance.

How do you expect to get a defenseman that is better than Larsson for less than what you paid for Larsson. It just won't happen.

Exactly. Nurse isn't even in the same universe as Trouba talent wise. Nurse is of zero interest

I'm not buying much into it. He's a real good player, I can't see them trading him and he's just entering his prime years

I think if you substitute the $7M per rumour from this past winter with $6M per, that is closest to what's going on right now.

I really wish we knew troubas demands... if he's asking more than the recently signed Barrie and jones, he is out of his mind... basically imo if jets are offering less than 5, they are crazy.... if Trouba is asking over 5.5, he's crazy.... settle at 5.25!!

I really wouldn't doubt if he's trying to demand 6 ish... dream on Trouba

He'll he shouldn't even be getting more than riellys 5 per year, but that was a steal

At what term though? The Jets are not going to offer 5m+ for 2-3 years, nor should they. One cannot just throw out numbers like that without term being a factor.

Laughable. Start with Klefbom or Larsson.

is Arizona a cap team though? that's getting close to the cap

No they're definitely a budget team here, Just don't see Trouba signing an offer sheet from Chayka though. Unless Trouba is one of those Americans that would rather play in the States over Canada i don't see Trouba taking Arizona over Winnipeg even if it meant making big bucks. Making big money and playing on a team that's no where any better then Winnipeg wouldn't be helping his situation. Just saying.

He shouldn't get anymore than Rielly -- but he will, because Winnipeg.

You're probably looking at parting with Klefbom over Nurse, I seriously doubt that if Trouba was willing to be dealt to Edmonton that he seeks any thing less then $5.5 million to $6.5 million long term.
