Honka is also a prospect and according to Lawless tweets Cheveldayoff has no desire for prospects and picks as of now he wants a top 4 LHD close to an age of Trouba and Dallas just doesn't have that.

But that's just laughable. Why would someone trade a Trouba clone who shoots left for Trouba who doesn't have a contract. Everyone will quickly see that Chevy's hope will differ from the end result.

Hard for us as fans to know, as he's an RFA, teams can ask the price on the contract he is seeking or if he's willing to sign at all in Canada.

Unless you have something concrete that says Canada is out, then I'd say we can still discuss the Oilers and the Leafs as viable options if the price met WPG's needs and Trouba's contract demands fell in line with what both clubs would be willing to pay.

Keep Brodie, he is a special player.

That US only is pretty speculative. The other part of that is closer to home which Toronto is. Also a bigger stage, more endorsements. Check. I think under all the bull, money is the big issue.

Yes, Brodie is a special player. So is Trouba. We could make Calgary a pretty attractive offer for Brodie.

Being an RFA he is allowed unlimited talking to other teams so his willingness to sign in any market and his contract requirements can be spelled out in advance of any trade. That is until he signs.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that...

The Oilers can't go into this season relying on two centers under the age of 20.

Well, they can rely on McDavid, it's Draisaitl I'm not convinced is ready for the 2C role at the moment.

This infatuation with Gardiner+ for Trouba is something I will never understand. Trading a potential top pairing if not number 1 defenseman for Jake Gardiner who's at best a top 4 on an average to good team is just crazy. Who cares what prospect you get, you guys already have so many and not all are gonna be able to make the team. You guys should be holding out for the best defenseman possible. I mean would Gardiner get PP time? Cause almost half his points came on the PP the last two seasons and he was getting 22+ mins a night on the Leafs. I just can't see him getting more than 20 points at best with the Jets and he's nothing special defensively. I just think it would be terrible asset management. But it's not my team, knock yourselves out Jets fans.

I know Cheveldayoff isn't being very realistic here, What he's asking for and the final result will be totally different. Seeing that Trouba has no deal and that he might be seeking to play closer to home if that in fact the case. Most likely lowers his value some.

Every GM can talk to Trouba's camp. He's a restricted free agent.

If Trouba is dealt, a contract agreement will be in place with his new team.

Doubt it. Chevy will get what he wants or not trade Trouba.

The hockey world watches. I think he'd get some leeway with other gms if he forces trouba to stay. Set the precedent and all. More then one gm I'd think would maybe take his 2nd rounder for a player over someone else's 2nd rounder because of this.

How long do you think the Jets can delay trading Trouba?

No rush, we weren't expected to be a playoff team anyways. Year is unlikely, but I could still this dragging out until just before Dec 1st cut off

Didn't Perreault just call Trouba selfish? Don't need that locker room divide.

Longer than it will take for Trouba to crack and sign a deal IMO. Morrissey is the big key here. If he starts the year out and looks like a legitimate NHLer it will take quite a bit of pressure off Chevy.

Never said he was, Just saying that there's tons of credible sources saying that he wants to play close to home near Detroit. And Detroit, Columbus and Pittsburgh would be the ones that he would most likely pick.

And unless you're his agent Kurt Overhardt how would you know that he's not going to Detroit.

Actually if you're Chevy you know he's not going to Detroit because the Wings don't have what the Jets want.

I know you're hopeful but it's not happening.
