Theoretically this should help the ducks sign Lindholm, now they just have to threaten to trade him to Winnipeg. Nobody wants to play here. :sarcasm:

That's about it. I wouldn't call Chiarot and Postma Garbage and Trash. They are adequate 3rd pair. Morrissey playing top 4 as a rookie might be a bit of a stretch but we hope he would be up to it. In the press box we then have Stuart and Strait (yuck!).

We really just don't need that high end forward. If he is truly high end he would push someone down but that someone would be a pretty good player himself so little net gain. A young top 6 C would be somewhat interesting. We will need a replacement for Little eventually and Little could be a good RW. It certainly is not optimizing the value of Trouba though.

We need a top 4 LHD and we also would need RHD moving up in our system.

I wouldn't trade Trouba for a high end forward unless your getting a star or future star. Basically a guy who would be one of your top two forwards at least. Teams would pay a fortune for Trouba.

Trade Trouba for a high end offensive player, look at what Larsson and Jones got. Then trade the top 6 player that's pushed out of the top six by the player acquired for Trouba. Use that guy plus a prospect to get a LHD, if you have to. I mean you guys have enough prospects as is so I think you'll survive lol. Idk I'm just thinkin outside the box. I think it could maximize your assets more so than trading Trouba for Gardner plus a prospect.

MacDonaugh>> Trouba
Sheiflle > 2nd
seems to even out
MacD could be the LH defenseman your looking for

Scheif is a legit #1 center who played on the top line for team North America alongside McDavid and Matthews. A 2nd doesn't even come close to Scheif. A non lottery first doesn't even come close

Lindgren might be an under the radar prospect from the Leafs side. Loov is NHL ready for bottom pairing duties (and did well in a brief stint last year). Desrocher is an option but he's a long shot.

Dermott/Nielsen/Valiev slant the trade too much into WPG's favor.

It's a very fine line when trying to think a suitable plus. Plus it seemed like based on the insider's chat, Jets were looking for an NHL ready LHD and said Jets didn't want futures like picks or prospects so that may be why people haven't really attached prospects in their deals.

Yes it is. I can see Dermott being a little too much. We might add but we get back to that fine line. I liken it to trying to stop a table wobbling by cutting a piece off first one leg, then another. :)

I don't think there is ANY chance of a perfect 1:1 fit being found so some future would almost certainly be required. I had spotted Lindgren earlier. A bit risky but tempting. Can't someone feed the poor boy?

I think I would be inclined to accept Lindgren but the high risk would make me want a pick also added. There is a reason he was available in the 4th round. I think a 2nd but at least a high 3rd.

Gardiner + Lindgren + 2nd would do it for me but I doubt many Jets fans would agree. I don't sense a lot of enthusiasm for Gardiner.

The Jets just don't need any add-ons right now. Our current biggest problem is having too many prospects and not enough roster spots. We currently have our top 6 solidified and our bottom 6 is a dogfight for wingers. Then we have our goalie situation on lockdown, and our RD has no room for additions. So the problem with getting a lesser return with an add-on is that will just get stuck in the log jam that we already have. Another B level prospect will be like 6th in line on our AHL squad. A second round pick will be about the same. If its not an equal LD, the only other thing that we might need is an equal natural centermen who is on the trajectory to be a 3C right now, and a 2C in about 3 years. Unfortunately those are the Jets only 2 needs. It makes trades awkward. They're really looking for a 1 for 1.
Edit: didn't realize you were a Jets fan.

IMO yes, clearly.

In my opinion Fowler is a much better dman overall, especially defensively., than Gardiner. Fowler is actually younger than Gardiner as well...and he is still a far more capable NHL defenseman.

I'm thinking that playing the off side is not the real reason that he wants out of WPG.

I agree. How can any 22 YO D not want to play 1st pair TOI with Buff? And that on a team that appears poised to rise into true contention. Playing off side is real but seems like a small sacrifice.

I don't think it is really about getting out of the 'Peg either. By all appearances he likes it here. It may be an issue for his parents/family but I think it too is secondary. It is really about money. The way they talk about wanting to play the right side in order to get the most out of his career sounds like $$$ to me. Hiring Overhardt as your agent when you leave NCAA sounds like money too. It may be more than the contract though. This is where leaving Winnipeg might fit back in. There are markets where there is a lot more potential for endorsement money and the like.

Whatever the real story I'm all in on trading him now. Not bitter but not emotionally tied either. I think he is a near elite talent and needs to bring a big return. Unfortunately the way he has been used makes it harder to prove his worth. That fits his narrative except that the Jets are prepared to put him on the 1st pair. He may be traded to a team that doesn't do that. Whatever. If we can get good value for him I am happy to see him go.

Who's this source? We know the Flames/Gaudreau are apart in negotiations. That's it. Kucherov, Lindholm, Rakell... We barely know anything about their situations.
