As a Leafs fan, I'd do something like:
  • Gardiner
  • 1st (top 3 protected in 2017, then unprotected)
  • Soshnikov

I'm sure Winnipeg fans prefer a "star for star, straight up" type deal, but GMs often like "quality for quantity" deals a lot more than fans do, and I think this one has solid value. Not sure if it'd be the top offer Winnipeg would actually receive in the real world, but it'd be close.

Solid offer, I have no issues with it. Well done

Massive overpayment from the Leafs.

While I've become more open to the idea of moving Gardiner for Trouba after looking into Trouba's underlying stats, I still think the huge add to Gardiner is over the top.

I think a Trouba/Reilly ran defense would eliminate any fears of this alleged 'Massive Overpayment'. Would certainly go a long way in making your rebuild complete. As an Islander's fan I realize how nice it is to stockpile draft picks when you completely suck on the ice, but cmon man...it's time to imagine playing with the big boys.

Ya that's too much. I like Trouba. I think his upside is still real but given his attitude (he may not be a problem child but he is a little self entitled with the trade request/contract demands) there's some risk involved and I honestly don't think if he's expecting more money than Reilly that he's worth it and potentially that much better than Gardiner @ 4mil. Change the 1st to a 2nd and I'd probably do it just cause having an elite guy to play 1st paring right side with Reilly would be worth a slight overpayment.

Just because Rielly/Trouba would be a good pairing doesn't somehow make that offer a fair deal. Not really how it works. Wouldn't even do Gardiner + 1st, nevermind adding Sosh. The difference between Gardiner and Trouba is no where near a 1st round pick.

This is a solid offer unless Leafs make the playoffs

Does nothing for the jets and value is off, they pass hard.

Over payment by toronto, they are essentially adding to gardiner, a likely top 10 pick and Sosh who is komarov 2.0 but is going to be better.

Would Avs have any interest in Trouba for Tyson Barrie, I know rumors were that Avs management were trying to get something done involving Trouba & Barrie in the offseason. Barrie is a little bit older but I would do a 1 for 1 swap for Trouba and Barrie
