Just a FYI... Brodeur's kid was playing goal in the Floyd Hall Arena men's C league this summer. From FHA to traverse city, impressive! Ha

How come Gropp and Hughes are not in the tournament? Did they completely give up on goalie Halverson?

Gropp playing this year would be 4 Traverse City Tournaments, I believe. I don't think he gets anything out of these tournaments anymore. Other players have passed him and need to be seen more than him.

You sure it was Jeremy and not Anthony? Not saying it couldn't have been Jeremy, but he seems to be the better of the two--Jeremy had a pretty decent ECHL season whereas Anthony is 23 playing Canadian University. Just based on his OHL and ECHL performance Jeremy should wreck a men's league.

Check the roster above, it was Jeremy. His brother William was also skating on the team, along with a few guys who I think are currently on the UNH roster. They were the best team in the league, all young kids. C league is the highest one there, and there are some decent players, but they were good.

Wait, the score-sheets make it look like he wasn't playing goal but was a skater.

He was in goal, at least in the games we played against them. He could have skated out some games I suppose, but the score sheets in that league aren't anywhere near accurate. They take attendance on the way into the rink, but once on the ice who knows what the scorekeeper records, and there are plenty of skaters with identical numbers.

I think playing in Sweden would have been better for his development, but it is possible his team in Sweden did not want him back.

I don't think so. He probably would've been in the SuperElit again. NYR would've lost his rights after his 21 year old season....

I think coming over early and learning the North American game is better, especially with NYR now holding his rights for an extra 2 years.

I would think Ronning gets the "C" again. Wore it last year under the same coaching staff. Anderson had a letter last year, IIRC.

My theory is they did their scout a favor because his son's career was in early jeopardy because his Swedish team did not want him, and not too many other teams or leagues were interested. So they thought by having him drafted would help the kid get some recognition by impressing some teams that he was drafted by an NHL team so he must be a legit talented prospect. In the end he managed to get in one of the US colleges but they made him wait a year playing in USHL.
Riiiiight

Maybe because Gropp played in like 3 of them in a row.

As for Hughes--he's very young--a 7th rounder and going to play in the BCHL. A comparable in that would be Steven Fogarty who also didn't play at Traverse in his draft year and also went to the BCHL.

As for Halverson--IMO the Rangers have kind of given up on him.....but he's also played two full years as a pro and the limit I believe is one.

I'd rather most of the players were are prospects but I don't mind the Rangers taking a look at some unsigned CHL, College or European kids.
I think this might have affected Hughes NCAA eligibility if he did play.
