Reunanen was definitely one of if not the best player today. Of the name skaters the most disappointing was basically the entire defense sans fox who wasn't exactly great either.

Wasn't super happy with kravtsov but it felt more like rust for him than anything else.

The defense looked to be trying to do everything by themselves...skate end to end or skate the pcuk out rather than make easy outlet passes.

It was a structureless mess in terms of zone play. Slot left wide open all game long even when it wasn't found.

All of that is to be expected... Skill needs time to develop chemistry and systems...that doesn't really work in this kind of a tournament...you need to play it safe and play a counter attack system. Oh well.

In person, Fox was the best player by far. Tons of patience and the puck was glued to his stick. The rest of the defense made too many bad plays with the puck. Reunanen turned the wrong way in the neutral zone that lead to a breakaway goal. I don't know if that showed on the stream.

The forwards were pretty meh. The one that stood out the most was Jones up front. He was all over the place and physical.

I ran into Nico Gross standing in line for the men's room in between the 1st and 2nd. He complemented my kid on his Rangers sweatshirt.

Igor was left out to dry in the 1st period. Not sure what happened the rest of the game but man the goals were just complete breakdowns for the team

That 1st was a nightmare for any goalie between the pipes. You’re absolutely right.

He did let in some **** goals but at that point the game was done.

Many people here think Georgiev and Shesty are ready to split time in the NHL. Most players spend time in the AHL before becoming NHL regulars.

Nobody should be surprised or upset if guys like Shesty, Fox and Kravtsov need some seasoning in Hartford.

Not every kid is ready to compete against the best players on the planet their first year here...

****ing expectations.

Yeah. Imagine if Kakko had played...

Yeah, but you expect him to rob one or two of those. He was beaten very cleanly.

If you’re expecting your goalie to “rob a goal or two in the 1st period” in order to have a fighting chance, then the team deserves the L.

The entire team played bad. Shesty included. He’s not the reason why we lost though.

Lundqvist has spoiled us for over a decade getting us points in games like this. We take it for granted at times, imo...

Why didn't he play?

Illness of some sort. He’s DTD.

Hopefully he doesn’t have a concussed groin.

Igor was good at the start and good at the end but his angles were a bit off and IMO 2 or 3 of the goals he gave up were stoppable. I was actually wondering if he was going to get pulled. Rangers usually split the games between the two goalies so I'm kind of expecting Huska tonight.

The defense was sloppy too and there were too many breakdowns. That said the forwards have a part in that too and we don't have very deep forward depth this year. I thought we got off to a good start but Columbus played better as a team and here's another thing--when a team gets way behind they start to force shit--play more individualistic. It's easy to play when you have a big lead. Merzlikins looked really good besides.

We're probably not winning the tournament now. Is what it is. The goal should be just to play better.

Hoping Macaulay Carson get a chance to play tonight. Solid two way physical player from Sudbury. Looking a lot faster this year.

Is there a way I can watch a replay of the game?

Don't do it to yourself man!

I don't know if it was because the game was shot on a handheld camera, but the skate was very reminiscent of a local 11PM open hockey skate. Seemed like there was no structure and the guys clearly need time to get a feel for one another. I predict they'll be much better today.

Re: Shesty... yea, he was left out to dry plenty. I would have love for him to make one "incredible" save however. You can tell he's positionally sound, but can't blame him for a lot of those goals. You can't make any predictions on one open hockey skate tournament where the Defense is no where to be found.

Re: Kravtsov... first thing I noticed is this dude is skilled. He has confidence and obvious talent. Did he try the occasional dangle and fail? Yes. But he's going to be an exciting player to watch. Would be amazing to see him on a line with KK this tournament. He needs a guy who can finish plays with him.

Re: Fox... I thought out of the gate this kid was buzzing. His play slipped throughout the game but he had moments of poise on the offensive blueline (can't say much for the defensive blueline).

Re: Tarmo... I will agree that he was probably the best Ranger out there.

Who I'd like to see more from the next 3 games: Rykov
