Training camp

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Haven’t played one preseason game yet and already half the people here have figured out what our lineup is going to be for opening night. There are definitely a lot of locks but there are openings too. If Robertson beats out Jones or even vice versa that’s just the way it goes. If Vesey gets outplayed or Hunt has to be sent down all I can say is sucks to be them. I expect Kravtsov to make it but if Othmann somehow upends that apple cart and really proves he’s ready to go the entire season and Vitali looks so so then that’s the way it is. Carpenter or Rydahl or maybe even Trivigno? Let the best man at camp and in preseason games win. I’m not going to cry if someone’s favorite player don’t make it. Play hard….earn your spot. Outwork and outperform your competition.

It's an easy fix tho and u were pretending there were none. I wouldn't bank on kz line getting too much 5 on 5 like in the past. If the kid line plays well, they'll get more 5 on 5 time

So then why are we whining about the kids not getting ice time if them getting more means you won't win? Pretty inconsistent

I thought for sure i read his posts complaining about gg not giving them more time. But I could be totally wrong maybe he wasn't. If he was, then yea that's inconsistent as heck

Isn't almost this entire board frustrated w how little time the kids get anyway?

Either way, if the kids play well, get more time and we win its all moot

If it was him, he was being very sarcastic.

Almost the entire board, yeah. Yeah, here's hoping the kids make it very easy on Gallant to give them more ice time.

But if I’m picking one breakout candidate among the young players for this season, it’s K’Andre Miller. You could argue he already did that last season, but the 22-year-old defenseman looks he's finding another gear.

He’s been skating circles around people at camp, eating up pucks with those big strides and that long reach. And he’s pushing up in the offensive zone with more confidence than we’ve seen at any previous point. We saw that in Monday’s game, including a pretty shorthanded goal on a feed from Othmann, and we also saw an increase in his physicality. Miller led the team with five hits that night and looks more than willing to throw his weight around.

As one teammate said to me this week, “He’s sick.” (He meant that in a good way.)

Can I just say, once gain, how much I abhor the NHL's TV Deals. I have Hulu and ESPN +. I can get just about any game, unless NHL Network is showing it. Then, even though I pay a whole bunch to view NHL games, I have to find some rando, unsafe link to try and catch a glimpse of the game. And pretty much all preseason games are NHL network this year. It's enraging. The better this team is, the more often my package won't be enough to see the games unless I go get cable again. It's ridiculous. And needs to end ASAP. I could care less about the NHL network feed on top of that. Just give me the MSG feed and I'll be happy. It's just a really bad way to treat a fanbase. The way certain leagues and sports teams penalize cord cutters is sickening. I have a similar issue with not being able to see any Dodgers game though I live in LA because I'd need to get spectrum cable. They don't offer any ala carte services because literally the only reason to have cable anymore is sports. So Cable companies hold games hostage. The sports leagues need to not let them do that. It's just plain greed.

Yeah, I don't even understand NHL Network. It feels like a bone tossed to the cable companies to have a channel that's impossible to get any other way. Even when it was NBC I think you could watch online if you had a cable TV service of some sort, same with ESPN (or you get a service like Sling.tv)

I feel like I should complain about that again...a few years ago I think NHL.tv had NHL Network games and then they quietly dropped those. Now it's just this dumb channel on cable that screws me over when it comes to watching games.

Tough early cut for Robertson if true, but again I think most of us thought he'd be a slower developing prospect. And there's literally no need to rush him.

It didn't help that he was saddled with another prospect instead of a roster regular like Jones had with Schneider. But it was written in the stars. The 3LD spot is between Jones and Hajek.

It's possible that we grab someone off waivers. No idea who will be available though.

And frankly Hajek should just be a game time emergency fill in. In cases of long term injury, Robertson should get a look.
