I hope not. That line will never shoot.

If he's going to be in the "top 6" it should be next to Zibanejad.
Krav is way more assertive in shooting than Laf & Kakko, especially Kakko. Kakko loves to just hold on to the puck and skate back & forth along the boards with his head down and no intention of making a play lol

Kakko's shot rate were pretty good 2 seasons ago. Dropped off last year (dunno how much the injury had to do with it) but it's been there before, can't really say the same of Vitali as we haven't seen him enough at this level.

Ideally I'd like to see something like this (based off of what is here)

Laf-Zibanejad-VK
Panarin-Trocheck- Kakko/Blais
Krieder-Chytil-Kakko/Blais
Goodrow-Carpenter/Rhydal-Hunt

That way you have at least one guy on each line who can carry the puck up ice (VK, Panarin, Chytil) on each line. I expect Krav to be pretty good at this and its a skill thats pretty much wasted next to Panarin and something that we sorely need on the Zibanejad line.

No. Both Hunt and Blackwell were able to serve their role as the grit element to an otherwise all-finesse, all-perimeter line, but neither was going to be a sustainable long-term solution.
My point is that you can't blame hunt or other linemates for not somehow allowing panarin to do his thing when he did it successfully with Blackwell. Strome was the constant through all of it, good and bad. At this point it's just people making excuses (again, playoffs "he must be injured"bs) for a player that has admitted he was shit

I think Blackwell did a better job than hunt and co. Blackwell isn’t big but he’s also not shy. I also think Strome wasn’t quite as passive in years past and the Strome-Panarin pair just got into some bad habits. Anyhow regardless of who’s to blame I think it’s safe to say Panarin-Trocheck will be better than Panarin-Strome.
My point was I don't see how Blackwell opened up space for panarin any differently than hunt did. That's what I was originally responding to with someone who blamed hunt for why panarin was bad. Strome played his normal in between self and he was in a contract year. I don't think panarin is a linemates guy, his talent transcends whoever he is playing with. It's a mindset w him. He knows he was bad, he's admitted it. Let's see what happens now

He looks and sounds like a kid that has matured tremendously and is partially embarrassed about how he handled things in the past. Seems he is ready to be an NHL professional. He also made a comment about his mental health being better. I don't think that comment should be glossed over bc it may add context to other comments he made about people not knowing the whole story of last year. I have high hopes for Kravtsov this year
That wasn’t the first time his mental health was mentioned.

Just training camp, but the release is pretty wicked looking:

That's normally a blocker side shot on an AHL level goalie, but yes if he develops some confidence and can start hitting corners like that then we have something brewing!

That wasn’t the first time his mental health was mentioned.
Maybe now it will be one of the first times the fan base respects it though. It's a topic that (thankfully) is beginning to garner more respect in society rather than being viewed as a flaw or weakness.

I don’t think there is a lot of evidence to suggest Panarin likes playing with Kakko/that combination works either. They tried Kravtsov there and now are trying out of position Lafreniere there. I’m fine seeing what Kakko can do on line one but again I think the best Kakko they’ve seen is with Lafreniere and Chytil. I think the challenge is finding the right combination for Kakko. I think Lafreniere and Kravtsov work more universally than Kakko does. I do think Kakko needs to be on a line where he is dominating the puck though. He’s a weird one

I’m thinking about how there’s a good chance Kakko, Chytil and Lafreniere take another step. That alone will make this team 2x more dangerous, in all zones.

Then I think about how Miller seems to be quietly ascending to an all-star level. Fox will be Fox and Trouba is now embraced and elevated as the top leader of the team.

And then I think about Kravstov and what he can add to this team offensively. I think about how Mika is still improving and learning he is an elite force in the league and doesn’t need to take a back seat to another star he’s matched up with on the other team. I see Kreider using his huge noggin to repeat what he’s figured out on the PP and how what he does is virtually unstoppable.

Then you hear that Panarin isn’t happy with his game and that he needs to be involved more, lol.

Oh yeah and we got this guy Igor who just picked some hardware called a Vezina.

This lineup is for real folks.

The scary thing is you didn’t even need to mention Jimmy Vesey in this post.

Unfortunately Kreider and zib aren't being separated until at least December if at all.

Haven't heard many reports on otter, how is he doing in camp? Just okay? Standing out at all one way or the other?

Oh theres no way it gets broken up this year no matter how bad it is. His 52 goals last year and the bromance will keep it alive so at this point we just need to find a RW thats going to work with that duo to make the line at least adequate at ES.

There will be a vatrano 2.0 this year.

I am in NO way advocating for it but Patrick Kane would be an incredible piece with those two. He can get through the neutral zone, he loves to work the right side to make lanes for a one timer (hello zib), and Kreider would be the ideal guy to make room for him. There's just no way we can pay that price for a player.

Forget Kane, Pavelski is the rental I'd be interested in.

Say hello to 30% powerplay
And Pavelski can still play and good on faceoffs and is a better overall player.

I really don’t like the idea of a shootout after an overtime in the preseason. It makes no sense

Thats the natural spot for Kane if he were to come here.

He would play next to Panarin though and it would be stupid.

Trocheck is a shooter and net driver. If it's not kakko on the right, then I think panarin and Krav feeding him could be a good line. That's if Krav is for real. I don't know if this team is a cup contender, it's only September, but they have the potential. And again, we are even younger at the start of this year then we were at the end of last year.

What makes Pavelski better than Kane?

Is there a specific statistic you're referring to?

A guy who would fit the bill at the deadline for me would be Barbeshev more so than Kane. Someone who plays a heavy game
Yeah. I am not a fan of a Kane acquisition. However, the Blues will likely be in the hunt and I doubt they trade him. Great player though.
